It's that time again! The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program receives funding from the Internal Revenue Service to provide FREE income tax preparation services to low- and moderate-income households from February to April 15th. This volunteer-run effort supports more than 6,000 households each year in Pierce County. This service brings millions of dollars back into our community through tax credits and refunds, and helps hard-working families pay bills and save for the future. Learn where you can get your taxes prepared for free here.
Local heroes are all around us. Tacoma lost a hero recently, a fierce advocate for those experiencing homelessness. Maureen Howard will be deeply missed. The TNT honors her here.
Some heroes work behind the scenes, and maybe we don't know their names. Jan Runbeck is a nurse who tried to help a neighbor experiencing homelessness. Read her editorial "When the homeless die on the street, the trauma multiplies. My neighbor is an example" in the TNT here.
The Community Quarterly Meeting to Solve Homelessness (CQM) is happening on Thursday, February 16. Make this the year you learn more on how you or your congregation can help solve the crisis of homelessness. Join us at the Bryant Neighborhood Center and see how YOU can make an impact. To learn more and to register (free), visit our website.
After a long hiatus, the Interfaith Women's Conference is back! Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 21. Plan to join us for a day of sisterhood, learning and expanding.
Want to help shape and create this amazing event? Volunteers for the planning are needed! Contact Sandy Windley if interested in joining an amazing group of women (or those who identify as such) in planning: sandyw@associatedministries.org or call 253-426-1506.
Check out our website calendar. Faith communities and community partners may post their events to our web calendar (see online for details)!
