Montserrat Gallery presents Karmimadeebora McMillan: Wandering stars…for whom it is reserved…the blackness…the darkness…forever, an exhibit described as a "kaleidoscopic journey through time that draws inspiration from sci-fi, speculative fiction, and Afrofuturism" created by Boston-based artist Karmimadeebora McMillan. McMillan's strong visual style of bold geometry and figures pulls from all aspects of Black history to examine "the power of memory and how Black histories are held and carried." This immersive, multi-media show is also the debut of two new animations. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. Montserrat Gallery is located at 23 Essex Street, Beverly, MA. Chazan Gallery at Wheeler presents COLOURED.AESTHETICA., a show that highlights the work of Triton Mobley, a new media artist whose practice pulls together "critical making methodologies across performative installations, programmable fabrications, and speculative industrial design." Mobley's work in COLOURED.AESTHEICA. is digital but pulls from the tangible and real to trace "chronological markers across the archived memories from America’s amalgamation of public, private, racial, economic, and religious spaces." The show's opening reception is on Thursday, Feb. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Chazan Gallery at Wheeler is located at 228 Angell Street, Providence, RI.
