Join Sarah Bishop of Coneflower Consulting as she introduces participants to the art of grant writing, how to find grants, communicate your ideas, and make your project seem real to funders.
Bring your grant ideas to workshop them in person! This session is open to individuals of all interests and disciplines.
Sarah Bishop is the founder and CEO of Coneflower Consulting, a Kansas-based consulting firm empowering mission-driven organizations in the nonprofit, academic, and government sectors with sustainable strategies for creative growth. She also serves as Assistant Teaching Professor of Management at the School of Business at the University of Utah and as the Humanities Grant Consultant for the University of Southern California-Dornsife. Previously, Sarah was Associate Director of the Hall Center for the Humanities and Co-Director of the Institute for Digital Research in the Humanities, both at the University of Kansas. Today, Sarah also serves as the Chair of Outdoors Unscripted, a nonprofit committed to making outdoor adventure accessible to and sustainable for all through environmentally conscious storytelling, visual arts, theatre, dance, live music, and dining. Sarah has a B.A. in literature from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in 20th century American literature and film from the University of Virginia. She is a proud member of Nonprofit Connect, Independent Sector, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Grant Writing Workshop:
This workshop will help you address specific questions on the grant application form. You will receive examples of successful grant sections and have an opportunity to try writing some sections during the session.
This session will prepare you to begin writing your first draft, and you’ll come away with some parts already drafted.
This workshop is free, and you must register through Eventbrite to participate.
1:1 Meetings with Anna - Grant Guidelines & Project Identification:
Horizons Grants Administrator Anna Pauscher Morawitz will review the Horizons grants program and how artists can access financial support for their artistic and creative growth, and organizations can seek funding for special projects. Anna will go over the guidelines, budget outline, and answer questions about the overall process.
