Greetings!

As we near the end of the year, I’ve been reflecting on what an incredible journey it has been for Global Sojourns Giving Circle, a year filled with creativity, courage, and connection.

A huge thank you to everyone who voted, shared, and supported our Creative Expressions Contest. Together we raised over $10,000 and reminded every young person who entered that their creativity and voices matter.

I’ve also been deeply inspired by the creation of our first book in the Voices of Transformation series — written by Boys Club mentor Nyika Muyambo and illustrated by Kangwa Yombwe. It is a powerful personal story of courage and transformation — Nyika’s journey of breaking free from limiting ideas of manhood to embrace compassion and purpose — a beautiful reflection of how mentorship changes lives from the inside out.  We’ll be celebrating this milestone at our End of Year Celebration on 3 December, and I hope you’ll join us to share in this special moment.

This issue also features Kimberly’s journey toward becoming a chef, the voices of girls leading change, and a spotlight on the Sisonke Boys and Girls Clubs near Victoria Falls. Each story reminds us of the transformation that happens when young people are supported to grow, lead, and shine.

These words have never felt more alive than they do now, as we celebrate the incredible journeys of our mentors and the young people whose lives they touch every day. We’re thrilled to invite you to our End of Year Celebration, where we’ll launch a powerful new book by our Boys Club mentor, Nyika Muyambo.

This beautifully written story captures Nyika’s own transformation and the important work being done in our Boys Clubs to support young men in reimagining what it means to lead with heart, empathy, and strength. It’s an inspiring reflection of the power of mentorship and storytelling to change lives.

Join us for an hour of celebration, connection, and inspiration as we reflect on the year that’s been and the lives that have been transformed through your support. There will also be a chance to meet and connect with our mentors in small breakout groups — a special opportunity to hear their stories firsthand and celebrate them for the incredible work they do.

Come celebrate the power of story — and the heart of GSGC. 💛

We are proud to announce the winners of this year's Creative Expressions Contest. In some clubs there were record numbers of entries so the competition was fierce and all the finalists were deserving winners. This year a new category was added, ‘innovation and invention’, which brought about some amazing ideas. A total of 31 finalists were chosen from 71 entries, all picked from a network of international volunteer judges which this year spanned across 8 countries.

With your support, 564 votes were cast raising over $10 000. A huge thank you to all of you who voted, your votes were not just about giving financial support to the youth but also about honouring their creativity and making them be seen, heard and believed in. The creative contest means so much to our youth and it is something they look forward to year after year

Meet Kimberly, a young girl with big ambitions of becoming a female chef, A profession that is largely male dominated. We interviewed her back in May when she was still studying for her exams, but there has been an exciting update since then! Kimberly is one of four girls from Tikobane Girls Club, in Dete, Zimbabwe, who have been accepted into an internship at a prestigious lodge in Hwange National Park. This is a huge step forward to achieving her dream and a testament to the impact of her club and her mentors.

With this year's International Day of The Girl Child theme being “The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the frontlines of crisis” we asked some of our girls to describe themselves and what they do in their community to help others. It was amazing to hear all of the things they are championing, from supporting peers in education to advocating for gender equality and educating others around menstrual hygiene, the environment and drug abuse. Next in our club spotlight series we shine a light on Sisonke Trust, located near Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Led by Nyika, Talent and Prosper they gave us their insights on what makes Sisonke so special and what it truly means to be together.
