We believe access to the arts is essential to our everyday well-being, especially in the most challenging of times. creativity connected is designed to provide digital access to enjoyable and educational art activities that give children affected by cancer and blood disorders the opportunity for self-expression, empowerment and healing through the arts.

The harp is one of the oldest instruments in the world! Hear how different cultures have created harp music as Megan Conley, Houston Symphony principal harp, performs pieces from Ireland, Argentina, and more.
Prop makers are full of creative ingenuity, and the Props Department at the Alley is no exception. Interim Props Master Eric Brown and Master Artisan Jessica Julien share one of the greatest tricks of their trade- turning everyday trash into treasure. From Tide container crabs to pinecone squirrels, this video shows you how to see new life in everyday trash and challenges you to create your own masterpiece at home!

Periwinkle and Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers present the 30th Annual Making A Mark®, an exhibition of art and creative writing by children touched by cancer and blood disorders. This unique display focuses on the personal issues that surround childhood illness as expressed by the children themselves. 
Pine Cone Spider
Supplies:

Pinecone
4 black or brown pipe cleaners
6-8 googly eyes
Scissors
Glue



             
To Make:

  1. Find a pinecone in your yard! Cut off any sharp points with the scissors.
  2. Starting at one end of the pipe cone, take a pipe cleaner and wrap around the pine cone. Tuck the pipe cleaner in-between the cone scales. Let the ends hang to create the legs. Continue this step with the other 3 pipe cleaners. If needed, cut the legs end to make all legs even length. 
  3. Glue google eyes on to the flat bottom of the pine cone.
  4. Spiders have many eyes, so be creative in gluing the eyes on!!  
Cotton Ball Ghost
Supplies:

White and Black Construction paper
Cotton Balls
Scissors
Glue
Pencil
Paper bowl
Black ribbon or string 



To Make:

  1. Cut a ghost body from the white paper.
  2. Using the black paper, draw two circles for eyes and draw a mouth. Cut out eyes and mouth.
  3. Put a little glue in the paper bowl. Dip each cotton ball into the glue and place the cotton ball on the body of the ghost. 
  4. Glue eyes and mouth on top of cotton balls.
  5. Glue the ribbon to the back of the ghost to make a door hanger.  
  6. Your ghost will greet you as you come and go!
