Grants, Loans, Credits
Are you eligible for the Recovery Startup Business Credit?
To be eligible you must have had W-2 Employees in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2021 and started your business after February 15, 2020.

Eligible employers who overlooked the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) when they filed payroll tax returns for 2020 and 2021 can still claim it by filing an amended federal payroll tax return. The ERC is designed to help employers who kept paying their employees while shut down during the pandemic or who suffered a significant decline in gross receipts during the eligibility period. The ERC is a payroll tax credit, not an income tax credit, and it was available only during 2020 and 2021.
Most eligible employers who overlooked the credit can still claim it by filing Form 941-X, Adjusted Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return or Claim for Refund, available on IRS.gov. Form 941-X filers and businesses that file other types of returns can visit IRS.gov/ERC for details, forms and instructions.
There are two new Abbott-LISC Program Offerings for minority-owned businesses.

1. Growth Capital
With Abbott Grant Support, LISC will provide interest-free growth capital between $50,000 - $250,000 to help businesses overcome hurdles to expansion. This funding is similar to an equity investment, but without the owner surrendering any control over the business. Businesses only repay LISC if and when they meet certain growth targets.

2. Business Loans
With joint Abbott-LISC funding, LISC will provide flexible and affordable loans of at least $100,000 not typically available through conventional lenders. These loans will reduce barriers to borrowing and enable diverse small businesses to fulfill major contracts, grow and stay competitive in their respective industries.
Minority Business Enterprise
Envision Grant
The United Way of Greater Charlottesville (UWGC) is pleased to announce the inaugural round of ENVISION Grants for small, minority-owned businesses, supported by the City of Charlottesville Office Economic Development and the Albemarle County Office of Economic Development. A total of up to $140,000 may be awarded in grant amounts of up to $10,000.
