Dear Headwaters Creek Community,
I hope that each of you has been able to find time this week to breathe, connect with your loved ones, and to play with your sweet children. It has certainly been an interesting spring break and the guides have been both resting and working on ways to continue to engage and inspire your child through distance learning.
This coming Monday and Tuesday, the Creek guides and I will finalize our initial distance learning plans. On Tuesday afternoon you will receive a suggested schedule of the day, work plans, work choices, and a designated time for children to meet via Zoom with their guides and classmates. You will not need a Zoom account to join, and the class meeting/check in should not last for more than 15 to 20 minutes.
In the next few days, please talk with your child(ren) about setting up a work space. What supplies do they think they will need? Where do they feel would make a good work space? Have your child begin to set up the space with supplies. Involving your child will help them to mentally prepare and to feel ownership over the process.
We understand that everyone is navigating a massive shift, that children may not have consistent access to a device, and that some days you will want to attend to mental and physical well-being instead of school schedules. Our intention for these first days of distance learning is to give you all structure and to introduce the children to virtual meetings. There will not be new lessons presented during this time. Once we are underway, we will send you a brief survey to ask how things are going and how we can help.
Please remember that our children pay close attention to our feelings and reactions. They
