Creekside Chapel Newsletter
Sept. 14, 2018

If you have been in church or have been watching online during the last month then you've probably heard me mention that we have been preparing a new way for you to give to Creekside. Our reason for doing this is twofold: to give you a simpler option for giving and to streamline the collection of those gifts for our volunteers who record them. Our whole objective is to make it easier for you to honor the Lord with your tithe and to make the process of recording your giving and tracking our budgeted income throughout the year more efficient for those who serve in those capacities.

The platform for our new system is called PushPay, which is a company built specifically to serve churches (of which they are currently serving over 7,000, including many of the largest churches in America) in two ways. First, they provide an online location for giving, which can be accessed from smartphones, tablets and computers. Second, they are in the process of building a mobile app for us, which will be one of the primary ways that we encourage current members and attenders of the church to engage with us. On the app you can fill out a connection card, sign up for a group, learn about a ministry, contact a leader, read your Bible and take sermon notes, watch previous services or catch our live stream, make a financial contribution, and more, all on your mobile device! Those who register for the app will also begin receiving text notifications about important events and news from Creekside (you can opt out of some or all of them if you prefer). As we attempt to reach current and future generations of the community for Christ, the ability for people to connect with the church on a mobile platform becomes all the more essential; this allows us to do just that.

How do you use PushPay to give your tithe or offering? By going to our website and clicking on 'Giving' under the 'Get Involved' tab, or texting CREEKSIDE GIVE to 77977, you can enter our giving platform and make a one-time gift. Or, to make the process even easier for yourself, set up a recurring gift that you can put the information in for once and not have to mess with again! You can input your bank account information or a debit card to be stored for use; credit cards are not an option for giving. Once you set up your information, the second time you give will go even quicker and really only require that you designate the amount you want to give and what fund you want it applied to (all undesignated funds go to our general budget). You will also have the option to absorb the processing costs with your gift, which is a small percentage of the amount you are giving; we have budgeted as a church to absorb those costs, so there is no pressure to do so, but the option is yours.

If the trust of 7,000 churches doesn't help you rest assured that this this a safe and secure way to share your resources with our church, you can go to the PushPay website and read about their state-of-the-art security system, which goes far above and beyond industry standards, both for the sake of the giver and for the sake of the church. Your gift goes directly to the church's checking account, meaning that no one on our end is seeing your bank information or handling cash. Their technology also gathers giving data for us and integrates with our accounting software to do much of the financial input and reports for us, so the more people at Creekside who use PushPay, the simpler our accounting will be for our volunteers.

I don't know about you, but I've been writing a check for our tithe, every two weeks, for the last couple of decades. And if that's your preference, you can always continue to give to the church with checks or cash. But I'll tell you that I've been using PushPay for the past month or so as we've been testing it behind the scenes and I love it! It is easy to use, cuts down on the number of checks I am writing and I don't have to remember to bring my gift to church with me. Members of our staff and leadership team across all age ranges have been using it as well, and the reviews have been excellent so far. I hope you'll check it out and consider setting up your giving to Creekside through PushPay.

Have a great weekend, hope to see you on Sunday -

Pastor Adam

Recalibrate Launch Weekend - 9/22+23

Next weekend is our official launch of the fall season at Creekside Chapel! Though there are still many developments in the works, this is the date we set to put as many of our Recalibrate changes and improvements into place as possible. Some things you'll notice and others you won't because they are behind the scenes, but God is moving and helping us get better every week as we seek to fulfill our mission of reaching, teaching, mending and sending people in the name of Jesus.

On Saturday, September 22nd the Revolution Youth Ministry is putting on a special event for teens from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Youth Center. We will have food, games, blow-up bounce activities and more! This a great week for teens to invite their friends to come check out our youth ministry, led by Pastor Al Edwards, Tim Griffin and Sonya Mickens. The youth normally meet every Saturday night from 6:00-8:00 pm.

On Sunday the 23rd we'll start a new sermon series that will be helpful to all people of all ages, regardless of their beliefs or church background. Our series is called "Choices: A Guide to Making Wise Decisions". All of us have regrets about choices we've made and have difficult decisions yet to come, and so this series will equip us to make better choices that honor God and help us live with fewer regrets. This is a perfect time to bring a friend or family member with you to introduce them to our church! There will be an insert with the series graphic and our church information in this week's program that will help you to do just that. Please make plans now to join us at 9:00 or 10:30 next Sunday!
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Bible Study and Prayer
We have some new opportunities coming in October for you to pray and grow at Creekside!

As promised, we will begin a monthly prayer and worship gathering in October, called Encounter, which will be scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm. We come to this gathering with the expectation that we will encounter the living God. Come to pray for our church, our community and our country. Pray for others and receive prayer for yourself, for any kind of hurt. Bring your testimonies and your praises too!

Also on the first Wednesday of October, Pastor Adam is going to begin a weekly Bible Study that is open to everyone! This group will meet every Wednesday at 7:00 pm for about 10 weeks. The content is still in the works, but this will be an overview of a book of the Bible that will dig in deeper than we are often able to do on Sunday mornings.

For both gatherings we will meet upstairs at Creekside, specific location depending upon attendance, but the more the merrier!

Stephen Ministry

You've hopefully heard by now that Sonya Mickens is heading up a new opportunity to serve and to be served at Creekside known as Stephen Ministry. Stephen, whose story can be found in Acts 6-7, came alongside the ministry of the apostles to help meet the day to day needs of the church. This national ministry equips people to minister to one another through good times and bad as part of the body of Christ; Christ caring for people, through people.

In the coming weeks and months we will be looking to train individuals who are gifted by God to show love and care to God's people, ensuring that no one has to go through any life event alone.

Here are the values of our Creekside Stephen Ministry:

Confidentiality
There is absolutely no discussion (Other than with the Stephen Ministry supervisor) about those who receive care or the nature of that care.

Godly Love and Support Remaining Christ centered and process oriented

Dependable & Trustworthy
Consistent in keeping commitments and remaining steadfast  through the duration of each life event, with integrity.

Biblical Counsel & Full of Faith
Though we are not professional counselors, we lead people to find their help and hope through the truth of the Scriptures. We participate in the life of the church, are lead by the Holy Spirit, and will model our faith in God's word.

Compassionate
Showing love, patience and understanding with grace and sensitivity.

Skilled
Every minister is trained for the work, with ongoing education and support available to all volunteers.
