PIZZA & PUPPIES.

Our July adoption event at Pizza Luce - Eden Prairie was so successful, they've asked us back again in August. This location has been a great partner and supporter of ours for 3-years. Our 7/10 event drew a big crowd, garnered lots of adoption interest, and we raised over $500. Mark your calendars now and plan to attend. The Rescue Crew will provide pizza for all fosters and volunteers.

Date: Wednesday, August 14

Location:  Pizza Luce, 11347 Viking Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344

Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Holly Hart will be joining us this month as a new Crew Member Coordinator. Holly has previous rescue experience as a Foster/Placement Coordinator, Event Coordinator as well as a foster. Holly brings to us significant project management skills as she's a certified project manager as well as being LEAN Six Sigma certified.

Kris Olsen is also joining us as a new volunteer. Kris has previous volunteer experience at a humane society and the English Spring Rescue America. Additionally, Kris was a certified vet tech for 10 years and graduated from the Animal Behavioral College for dog training. She has a passion for rescue animals, having a number of her own, and we hope to leverage Kris' passion and talents in the areas of training, events and perhaps assisting the intake team in the future.

Other changes within the organization include Lissa Kleven taking over the role of Events Manager beginning August 1st, and Deb Mans will be taking the lead on our in-store foster cat program with Chuck & Don's - Eden Prairie.

Fia Travels Near and Far for the Animals.

It never fails. Inevitably there seems to always be a need to help get rescue dogs and cats from one place to another. Either we need help with an emergency rescue situation, or we have a foster or adopter who lives further away than most who's needing help getting their foster or adoptive pet. Maybe something unexpected has come up and help is needed picking up a foster from the clinic. No matter how well we plan, the unexpected always comes up, and Fia Goldfine is always there to the rescue. Fia has traveled hundreds, if not thousands, of miles to help our rescue pets in need, and we want her to know how much her time and efforts (and mileage) are appreciated.

It's a Family Affair.

For anyone who's been to our office in Maple Grove, you know that it's a tight space and often cluttered. We're actively looking for a new space that we can grow into rather than grow out of. Until that time comes we're making do with what we have, and thanks to our Lead Vetting Coordinator Chris Ebensteiner and her husband Troy, we've had the space overhauled a bit. Chris and Troy put in well over 40 hours in late May completly tearing down and rebuilding the space, which now includes a dedicated vetting room where we can more safely care for foster pets' vetting needs.

High Praise for Melissa & Roxanne.

Every adopter receives a short questionnaire (ten questions) one week after they've finalized the adoption of their new furry family member, requesting feedback on their experience with The Rescue Crew.

Recently, one adopter had this to say about Crew Member Coordinator Melissa Ostley: "She was amazing! She was very informative and straightforward. She was very quick to get in touch with me and get me in contact with the foster. She was extremely kind and thoughtful."

Another adopter showered praise on foster caregiver Roxanne Roehl: "Roxanne was the best foster mom for our dog. She was so loving and readily available to answer any questions. She made the process super easy. I give her 5 stars out of 5! "

All editions of Crew News will now be housed and archived under the Foster & Volunteer Resources section of our website. Please be sure to check our website regularly, as we update information, events and resources that can be useful to you as well as our adopters.

Training Support on Your Schedule.

Our advanced training partner, GoodPup, can help resolve behavior issues, provide understanding, support, and a plan to help you and your foster dog if your experiencing some challenges.

Any foster can try this service for one week at no cost. If you find it beneficial, just let your Crew Coordinator know, and we can extend your virtual training for an additional four weeks. We've seen some amazing transformations happen and we hope you'll give GoodPup a try.

Changes to Senior for Seniors Adoption Program.

We are pleased to offer a number of special adoption programs created with both potential adopters and foster animals’ best interests in mind.

One of those programs is Respect Your Elders, a senior for seniors program offering people age 65 and older the opportunity to adopt a senior pet at a significant reduced fee. In order to make this program more broadly available we've reduced the ages of dogs available to participate in the program. Previously senior small breed dogs were defined as 12+ years old and medium/large breeds dogs ages 8+. Those ages have been reduced to 10+ and 7+ respectively effective immediately.
