Standing Strong for Safe Sleep: Our Commitment in Challenging Times
Recent federal decisions have significantly impacted public health agencies, including the disbanding of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the elimination of safe sleep programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Additionally, there are concerns about potential cuts to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), an agency vital for removing unsafe infant sleep products from the market.
These changes have left many in the public health community concerned about the future of infant safety initiatives. However, Cribs for Kids® remains steadfast in our mission. We are doubling down on our efforts to provide safe sleep education and resources to families across the nation. We understand the challenges ahead, but we remain more committed than ever to ensuring every baby sleeps safely.
In light of these challenges, we are taking bold steps to strengthen our impact. This includes making our Safe Sleep Spotlight newsletter a public resource. By expanding the reach of our newsletter, we hope to continue educating, informing, and inspiring communities far and wide. This newsletter will be a powerful tool to advocate for safe sleep practices and keep our mission in the spotlight; despite the obstacles we face.
Cribs for Kids is more dedicated than ever to advocating for safe sleep and infant safety. Together with our partners, supporters, and community, we will continue to ensure that every baby has the safe sleep environment they deserve.

Get Ready for the #SafeSleepStoryTime Campaign: Launching in October
This October, in honor of Safe Sleep and Suffocation Awareness Month, Cribs for Kids® will launch a powerful new campaign: #SafeSleepStoryTime. Throughout the summer, we will begin collecting stories from a diverse group of voices including loss parents, first responders, maternity nurses, pediatricians, and our community organization partners. These personal stories will shine a light on the importance of safe sleep practices and the real-world impact they have on families everywhere.
By October, we aim to share 100 safe sleep stories across our platforms, building a stronger, more informed community committed to infant safety. This is an opportunity for all of us to engage, educate, and inspire action by showing the world how crucial safe sleep practices are for every baby. We encourage our partners to participate by sharing their stories, spreading the word, and helping us reach our goal of 100 safe sleep stories. Let’s work together to ensure every baby has a safe place to sleep.
Stay tuned for more details on how you can get involved in the #SafeSleepStoryTime campaign!

Supporting Families in Crisis: The Barbara Clemons Emergency Relief Fund
In March 2025, Cribs for Kids® established the Barbara Clemons Emergency Relief Fund, in honor of our late Director of Product Development, Barbara Clemons. Barbara’s legacy lives on through this vital initiative, which ensures that families impacted by natural disasters and other emergencies have access to safe sleep resources when they need it most.
Barbara was a passionate advocate for infant safety, dedicating 14 years to Cribs for Kids®. Her tireless efforts to help families during crises like Hurricane Harvey and the 2016 Louisiana flooding had a lasting impact on the organization’s mission. In her memory, we’ve launched this fund to continue the work that was so close to her heart.
The Barbara Clemons Emergency Relief Fund provides cribs, sleep sacks, and other safe sleep products to families in the midst of disasters. With a generous annual donation of $5,000 from Korbex International, the fund ensures that Cribs for Kids® can act swiftly when disaster strikes, helping families rebuild and offering babies a safe place to sleep in even the most difficult circumstances.
By contributing to the Barbara Clemons Emergency Relief Fund, you’re not just honoring Barbara’s memory—you’re making a difference in the lives of families in crisis. Your donation helps us continue this life-saving work and ensures that babies can sleep safely, no matter the circumstances.
We remain committed to Barbara’s mission, and with your help, we can continue to provide safe sleep to families in need during their most challenging times.
