PJs to Support Safe Sleep, Join the Safe Sleep Champions

Pajama Party

On April 16 at 12 PM ET, something a little different is happening in the Safe Sleep Champions Webinar Series. This time, it’s a pajama party with a purpose.

In recognition of PJs for Safe Sleep Day, we are inviting advocates, partners, healthcare professionals, and community leaders across the country to join us for a lively conversation about safe sleep education, prevention, and the power of clear messaging in today’s digital world.

Our special guests include Maura Hanke from Charlie’s Kids and parenting influencer and safe sleep advocate Dani Morin, whose evidence based content has helped thousands of families better understand infant sleep safety online. Together, we will explore the challenges of misinformation, the importance of consistent guidance, and the shared responsibility we all have to ensure families receive accurate safe sleep information.

The timing could not be more perfect. The webinar will take place at noon on PJ Day, and participants are encouraged to join the conversation wearing their pajamas as a simple reminder that how and where a baby sleeps matters.

Whether you work in healthcare, injury prevention, early childhood education, or community outreach, this conversation will offer valuable perspectives on reaching families where they are while keeping safe sleep education rooted in evidence.

Grab your coffee, wear your pajamas, and join us for this important discussion as we continue working together to help every baby sleep safer.

Turn Pajamas Into Prevention: Using the PJs for Safe Sleep Toolkit

PJs for Safe Sleep Day offers a simple but powerful way to start conversations about infant sleep safety. By wearing pajamas on April 16, advocates across the country help bring attention to one important message, safe sleep saves lives.

Participating is easy and organizations of every size can get involved. Individuals, teams, schools, and entire workplaces can join the effort by wearing pajamas to work, school, or even from home. Encouraging coworkers, staff, and classmates to participate together helps turn a small gesture into a shared moment of awareness.

To support this effort, the PJs for Safe Sleep Toolkit provides ready to use materials that make participation simple and impactful. The toolkit includes promotional flyers, handouts, social graphics, banners, and access to the Cribs for Kids Flickr Safe Sleep Album, which contains images that can be used to support safe sleep messaging.

Organizations are also encouraged to document the day. Take photos or short videos of your team wearing pajamas, share why infant safe sleep matters in your community, and post your photos on social media. Be sure to tag @CribsForKids and use #PJsForSafeSleep so we can amplify your efforts.

These posts do more than show participation. They demonstrate how communities across the country are working together to support families and protect babies through education and awareness.

If your organization would like to co-brand materials or access template files, simply email info@cribsforkids.org.

On April 16, PJs become more than comfortable clothing. They become a symbol of our shared commitment to helping every baby sleep safer.

One Month Left to Submit Your Abstract

Do you have a program, strategy, or lesson learned that is helping move infant safe sleep from evidence into action? We want to hear from you.

The Cribs for Kids Conference Call for Abstracts is open, and the submission deadline is just one month away, May 1 at 11:59 PM ET. Each year, the conference brings together professionals, advocates, and community leaders who are working to prevent sleep related infant deaths and improve outcomes for babies and families.

We are especially interested in submissions that highlight advocacy and awareness efforts that influence systems, policy, product safety, and public understanding, as well as approaches that drive behavior change through thoughtful education and messaging. Community outreach initiatives that strengthen safe sleep through programming, innovation, and collaboration are also encouraged.

Presenting at the Cribs for Kids Conference offers a valuable opportunity to share your work, connect with colleagues across disciplines, and contribute to the growing national movement to advance safe sleep education.

Abstract submissions are due May 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET, with presenter notifications scheduled by June 1.

If your organization is helping turn safe sleep knowledge into real world impact, we encourage you to submit and be part of the conversation.

Black Maternal Health Week, April 11–17

From April 11 to April 17, partners across the country will recognize Black Maternal Health Week (#BMHW26), a national awareness campaign led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance.

This year’s theme, “Rooted in Justice & Joy,” marks the movement’s 10 year anniversary and celebrates the leadership of Black community based organizations working to improve maternal and infant health. The theme recognizes both the ongoing challenges created by systemic inequities and the strength, resilience, and solutions emerging from communities committed to change.

Partners and advocates are encouraged to explore and use the Black Maternal Health Week Toolkit, which includes messaging guidance, key facts, talking points, graphics, and sample social media posts to help organizations participate and amplify awareness.

By working together and uplifting community driven solutions, we can help support healthier outcomes for mothers, babies, and families.

Safe Sleep in Action

Supporting Military Families

Cribs for Kids was proud to be represented by Spencer Gentille, Program and Products Coordinator, at a recent Helping Heroes Military Baby Shower event.

Spencer connected with families preparing to welcome their newest little ones and shared safe sleep education to help caregivers create safer sleep environments from the very beginning.

Community baby showers like these are a meaningful way to provide trusted guidance and support to families during an important time in their lives

Connecting at AMCHP

Cribs for Kids team members Devon George, RN, Chief Programs Officer, and Spencer Poston, MSc, Program & Outreach Manager, recently attended the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) conference, where they had the opportunity to connect with partners from across the country.

Pictured above with Elizabeth Oestreich from North Dakota Health and Human Services, these conversations help strengthen collaboration and expand safe sleep education efforts nationwide.

Building Blocks in Action

It’s inspiring to see the impact of the Building Blocks Mini Grant Program in communities across the country.

Thank you to the Bourbon County Health Department for helping bring safe sleep education and infant safety resources to families in your community.

Their campaign uses partner branded materials to raise awareness and ensure families receive clear, consistent safe sleep guidance.
