2026 National Cribs for Kids Conference: Registration and Call for Abstracts Now Open
We’re pleased to announce that early registration and the Call for Abstracts are now open for the 2026 National Cribs for Kids Conference.
Returning to Pittsburgh from September 29 through October 2, 2026, the conference will once again convene professionals, researchers, advocates, and partners from across the country who are committed to reducing sleep-related infant deaths and strengthening prevention efforts nationwide. Early registration is available through June 30, with late registration open through September 18.
This year’s theme, Safe Sleep: Rooted in Evidence, Branching into Action, underscores our collective focus on translating research into practical, measurable impact. The conference will create space for collaboration, critical discussion, and the sharing of strategies that move safe sleep work forward across systems and communities.
The Call for Abstracts, open through May 1, welcomes submissions from healthcare providers, public health professionals, child welfare leaders, public safety agencies, community-based organizations, researchers, and advocates. We encourage voices from across disciplines and career stages to contribute to the national conversation.
We look forward to gathering in Pittsburgh to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and continue advancing evidence-based safe sleep work together.

New ASTM Standard for Wearable Sleep Products
A new safety standard has been approved for wearable sleep products used by infants and toddlers.
ASTM International recently adopted Standard F3735, which establishes updated safety requirements for fabric sleep garments designed to replace loose bedding. These products include items such as sleep bags, swaddle-style wearables, and sleep suits intended to be worn over clothing during sleep.
The standard was developed in response to reported incidents and data reviewed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. It outlines performance testing and labeling requirements intended to reduce hazards including suffocation, strangulation, and choking.
Importantly, this standard applies specifically to wearable sleep products and does not include loose blankets or separate swaddle blankets.
Clear, evidence-based product standards play an important role in prevention. As wearable blankets continue to be recommended as a safer alternative to loose bedding, strengthened oversight helps support safer sleep environments for babies and toddlers.

Product Feature: The Cribette, Redesigned with Families in Mind
For years, the Cribette has provided a safe, portable sleep solution for babies nationwide. Now, thoughtful enhancements make it even more supportive for families while maintaining the same trusted safety standards.
The updated design includes a zippered bassinet feature that allows caregivers to access their baby more comfortably during feedings, diaper changes, and nighttime check-ins. This improvement is especially helpful for postpartum mothers and caregivers with limited mobility, reducing strain while keeping baby in a firm, flat, safety-approved sleep space.
To further support safe use, the redesigned Cribette now features a built-in QR code directly on the product. With a quick scan, caregivers can access step-by-step setup instructions, safe dismantling guidance, demonstration videos, and reinforcement of safe sleep best practices. Whether received through a hospital, shelter, or community partner, families now have immediate access to clear guidance when they need it most.
You’ll also notice a friendly new design element. Babette replaces the traditional crib icon, creating a more welcoming entry point into safe sleep education while still reinforcing our evidence-based messaging.
While the look and functionality have evolved, the foundation remains the same: a firm, flat sleep surface, breathable mesh sides, and durable construction designed to give babies a safe place to sleep.
These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to meeting families where they are, providing not just a product, but practical support that strengthens safe sleep in the home.

PJs for Safe Sleep: Launching a New National Day of Awareness
On April 16, Cribs for Kids will introduce PJs for Safe Sleep, a new National Day of Awareness held in alignment with National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day. This initiative turns a simple, familiar routine into an opportunity to elevate conversations about infant safe sleep.
By wearing pajamas to work, school, or at home, individuals and organizations can help reinforce an important message: how and where a baby sleeps matters. PJs for Safe Sleep is designed to make safe sleep education visible, approachable, and community-driven.
As we launch this first year, we hope to establish an annual tradition that brings people together around prevention, education, and shared responsibility. Participants are encouraged to engage their teams, share why safe sleep matters, and amplify consistent, evidence-based messaging nationwide.
Learn more about how to participate and access resources on our website as we work together to help every baby sleep safer.
