News from Crinan

The Crinan Hotel Team sends New Year greetings to all our customers from bright, cold and frosty Crinan!

Over recent days we have been enjoying clear, frosty weather with bright blue skies and winter wonderland views. Some of the braver bulbs are just starting to put up shoots - a clear sign that spring will be on the way soon!

The Hotel will re-open for the 2025 season in time for Valentine's Day on the 14th of February and there will be a special Valentine's menu available over the opening weekend. Then at the end of the month, we will be hosting one of our regular Art and Music weekends (Friday 28th February - Sunday 2nd March). This weekend will also include a wine tasting hosted by Eva Franceschi from Corney and Barrow on Saturday 1st March.

The Crinan Team look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy our wonderful location, good food and perhaps a dram or two.  

We do hope you will visit us soon - we will offer you a warm welcome and true Highland hospitality!

Our chefs have put together a special menu for Valentine's Day.

This menu will be available throughout the opening weekend from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th February as will our Seafood Bar A la carte menu.

Art and Music at the Crinan Hotel

Martin Treacher is a versatile musical entertainer who will join Frances Macdonald to host another of the Crinan Hotel's now well-established Art and Music Weekends.



Martin is resident musical entertainer for the Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle, in the Highlands, and here at Crinan he will perform on the piano, accordion and bagpipes during the weekend, and he will also lead some singing around the piano after dinner.

Frances will give a painting demonstration and will be ready to answer questions about her work and offer tips to budding or aspiring artists.

These weekends are always popular so book soon to make sure you can join us.

This weekend will also include a wine tasting hosted by Eva Franceschi from Corney and Barrow on Saturday 1st March.

Art Residency at the Crinan Hotel

Exciting news! This year we will be continuing "The Crinan Art Residency" which includes an opportunity to stay at the Crinan Hotel. The week long residencies will run from March to October.

Crinan has long been ‘drawing’ artists to the area. Islands, a canal, Atlantic woodlands and stone age sites are just a few of the iconic landmarks that offer so much creativity.

A studio is provided at the Annex art centre, just 20 yards down from the hotel. You can also join our boat trips aboard the MV Sgarbh. Each residency is for one person. Complimentary accommodation and breakfast will be provided at the Crinan Hotel.

In March 2025, new work by Frances Macdonald will be on display at the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh. 

The exhibition opens on the 6th of March - please get in touch if you would like an invitation to the Private View.
