Art and Music weekend to mark 50 years at the Crinan Hotel ...
The end of February 2020 sees the 50th anniversary of Frances Ryan's arrival at the Crinan Hotel. A special art and music weekend will take place over the weekend 6th-8th March to mark this.
Guy Peploe, grandson of S.J. Peploe, has a unique insight into the works of the Scottish Colourists. He grew up with both a grandfather and father who were successful painters, so there might have been an expectation for him to become an artistic marvel himself. However, he says that he "can't paint for toffee" and has a "distinct lack of imagination" so Guy decided to take a different role in the art world and now helps to put on wonderful exhibitions at the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh. He also spends time encouraging young artists, writing books and talking about the Scottish Colourists and Scottish art. He will be resident at Crinan for the Art & Music weekend to share his knowledge about both contemporary and older Scottish art.
