Dear Corporate Work Study Partners,

Many thanks to all of you who joined us for Kick-Off Day this month!

We were thrilled to welcome more than 50 company representatives alongside our 355 students, board members, faculty, and staff to celebrate the start of a new school year. Your enthusiasm and energy made the day unforgettable for our students and set a powerful tone for the year ahead.

It is hard to believe we are already one month into the CWS program year. In conversations with students, they have consistently shared how engaged and excited they are about the work they are doing. They are already benefitting from the connections they are building, and we are deeply grateful for the support you provide to make these experiences possible.

Looking ahead, we have several exciting CWS events coming up. In particular, I want to highlight our first Lunch and Learn of the school year on October 16th. We hope you will join us! It will be a great opportunity to share best practices, exchange ideas, and answer any questions you may have about working with your students.

Because of your partnership, our students can attend Cristo Rey New York and receive a high-quality, college-prep education, earning nearly half the funds necessary to operate the school through their work-study placements.

Thursday, October 16th

Thank you to our partners who attended our Supervisor Training this month. We enjoyed seeing so many veteran and first-time supervisors at our event. If you want to check the presentation, you can find it here and on our portal.

Work Day Schedule

Student associates are expected to work a full day, which is approximately 6-7 hours, on the day of the week that they work.

Depending on their company's request, arrival/departure times will vary, but in general, students should arrive at work by 9:30 a.m. and depart by 5:00 pm. Students who arrive late to work due to reasons other than unexpected delays (e.g. MTA accident) will receive disciplinary actions and grade point deductions. Arrival and departure times are to be included in their daily time cards. Please let us know if the student arrives late or if you granted permission to leave early. We are required to notify families if students are dismissed before their regular time.

CWSP Workplace Experience Project

The Workplace Experience Project for our students is coming up, and you will be hearing soon from your Partnership Associate with more details. As part of the project, we will need your support in identifying two employees (not working directly with students, from different departments) whom students can interview over the next two months.
