“Critical Connections” Part 3: Our Connection to Christian Community
This Sunday marks the halfway point in our series on Critical Connections, and this week's message is focused on the importance of our connection to a Christian community. Scripture tells us that from the very beginning of the church, there was no such thing as an isolate Christian. But how do we stay connected when we are faced with so many competing priorities, not to mention a global pandemic? We'll draw on the book of Hebrews for guidance.
Sunday Celebrations
This past Sunday, we had two little reasons to celebrate: for the first time since March, we had acolytes in our traditional service! The Eakes twins donned their robes, lit the altar candles and closed service by leading us out to be the light of Christ. It was so good to have them back!
Help us welcome Brittany May to HFUMC!
We are excited to introduce Brittany May as our new Kids Director at HFUMC! Throughout the last several weeks, the search team has been busy at work conducting a nationwide search with many interested applicants and interviewees. Brittany joins our staff team with an exuberant calling, passion, and diversity of experiences ministering to families and children of all ages. She and her family (Jeff, Jenna Grace and Sawyer) are excited to join the HFUMC family. Brittany, who is currently the director of the Little Lambs Preschool at Good Shepherd UMC here in Hendersonville, will be transitioning to HFUMC Sunday, November 1. Details on a welcome reception for the May family will be coming soon!
Impact Sumner & Opportunities to Serve
A donation of $300 is on its way to Shalom Zone in Gallatin, our Impact Partner for the month of September. The donation is being made on behalf of the many new online visitors we had through September.

For October, our Impact Partner is United Way of Sumner County. Help us send them support by inviting someone to church! They can visit on campus or online, and we’ll make a $20 donation in their honor. Please encourage any visitors you bring to visit hfumc.org/first and let us know they attended.

We also have an immediate community service need. Showers of Blessings is looking for people to help provide showers and laundry service in their Mobile Shower/Laundry RV. Volunteers are needed on site at City Road Chapel UMC in Madison, Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am - 1pm. To learn more, visit cityroadchapel.org/sharing/showers.
