March 12, 2020

Dear Parents and Community,

This afternoon, Governor Mike DeWine held a press conference announcing that students in Ohio will not report to school for three weeks due to the coronavirus.

Governor DeWine also said we have to do everything we can to slow down the spread of this virus and out of extreme caution, the District has decided to put that in place beginning tomorrow.   Students will not report to school beginning Friday, March 13 through April 3 unless otherwise ordered by Governor DeWine. All events scheduled to take place between now and April 3 are cancelled . This includes all athletic practices, scrimmages, club meetings, and any activity that is part of our school program.  Additionally, Serpentini Stadium is closed.

On Friday, all school buildings will be open for students and parents only to pick up necessary educational supplies and/or equipment and personal items that may have been left in the building due to the timing of this announcement.   After tomorrow, our school facilities will be closed to the public.

We recognize that this decision will cause disruptions in the day to day routine for our families.  I will have further communication with you in the coming days in regards to any educational opportunities that our staff may provide for students.

Thank you for your support and cooperation during this time.

Sincerely,

Greg Gurka
Superintendent
North Royalton City Schools
