Name of Business: Chill Axes
Point of Contact: Stacy Berver (410) 336-4394 or or Russ Smith

Length of time business has been operating:
We opened February 17th, 2021. It’s been a whirlwind eight months.

Description of Business:
Chill Axes specializes in fun, special events! Join us for birthday & team building events as well as fun for families, a few hours with friends or a date night. We’ve hosted bachelors, bachelorettes and divorce parties! Throwing axes is an indoor recreational activity that everyone loves.
Located just off Route 3 at Davidsonville Road, we enjoy hosting groups from Crofton, Gambrills, Annapolis, Bowie, Severna Park, Edgewater, Arnold, Odenton, Fort Meade and more.
Not only can you throw axes at our super-cool projected target and other games, you can stay and unwind. We have plenty of comfortable, socially distanced seating for you and your friends and you can bring your own adult drinks and food. Come Chill Axe with us!

Your Business Mission Statement
Chill Axes is the premier axe throwing location in Anne Arundel County. Our location features 4,000 square feet of throwing and relaxation space. We encourage our customers to arrive early and stay late to enjoy their time with us. We cater to both small and large groups and regularly host private events. Our VIP area allows guests to choose an upgraded experience for their group. Critical to our success is exceptional customer service from booking to training and oversight.

What’s Your Why?
Chill Axes goal is to fill a need for a fun, new activity in Anne Arundel County. Integral to our “why” is a relaxing, environment where people come to throw and stay to enjoy time with friends.

What sets your business apart from others?
Our space is large enough that even with throwers in every lane, everyone feels safely distant AND we have a unique projection system with four games. You don’t just throw at a target – you can also throw at zombies, play tic tac toe or connect four.

What are some of the personal rewards that come from your business?
There have been many rewards, but our top three are hearing customers express how much they’ve enjoyed the experience, being able to employ a number of local students and giving back to the community through our fundraising events.

How long have you been a chamber member?
We joined the Chamber just as we were opening in February 2021.

What benefits have you experienced with your chamber membership?
Becoming a Crofton Chamber member is one of the best decisions we’ve made. The networking and rapport among the members has been terrific, and we’ve enjoyed hosting a networking event and seeing many members come in with friends and family.

Do you offer any discounts? Please specify:
Yes, Chamber members receive a 10% discount on any reservations booked with promo code CROFTONCHAMBER and special pricing on any large group events booked with us. Contact Stacy for group events – especially with the holidays fast approaching!

Executive Director's Message

The Multi-Chamber Fall Bash at Walden Country Club was a success ~ good weather, good networking, good fun. The winning team in the cornhole tournament received $240 for the Life of Joy Foundation and the second place team received $80 for Real Men Wear Pink. Congratulations!

It doesn't matter if you are a young professional defined by age, or if you are young at heart, come out and join us on October 22nd for the Young Professionals Mixer at Chill Axes. We’ll hear from Stacy Berver about her journey to becoming the co-owner of Chill Axes. Stacy’s job out of college as an entry-level marketing assistant ended up providing the stepping stone to a 25+ year career as a marketing executive…so how and why does she now own an axe throwing business? One lucky attendee will win a copy of Stacy’s favorite management book.

The next Community Shred Event will be on November 6th from 10am-1pm. (see more details below). We will also be collecting non-perishable food during the shred event to benefit local nonprofits.

We'd like to announce that the Premier Event with Keynote Speaker, Janine Stange has been postponed. The event will be in March of 2022 with the exact date to be announced soon. All sponsorships and ticket sales will be honored. We are still very much looking forward to the event!

All the best,

Liz Hostetler
