Hello {First Name}

It's FAFSA Friday, and the 2027-28 FAFSA is now officially OPEN! Every Friday during October, we will keep you updated with information about the FAFSA, financial aid process, helpful tips, and more! This week, we answer why the FAFSA is so important for you to complete!

Upcoming FAFSA Friday topics:

  • Who is Considered a Contributor on the FAFSA?
  • FAFSA Checklist | What Students Need
  • Common FAFSA Mistakes to Avoid
  • My FAFSA is Complete - What's Next?

If citizenship requirements affect your ability to complete the FAFSA, please contact Ashly Wilson, Assistant Director of Financial Aid + Advising, at awilson@crosbyscholars.org.

What is the FAFSA and why should I complete it?

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), is a form that you need to complete to be eligible for federal student aid such as federal grants, work-study funds, and loans.

Completing and submitting the FAFSA is free and easier than ever, and it gives you access to the largest source of aid to help you pay for college or career school.

In addition, colleges and universities will use your FAFSA information to determine your eligibility for state grants and other institutional aid. Some private scholarship providers may request your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid, too.

The only wait to know exactly how much financial aid you qualify for is to submit a FAFSA!
