Cross Bearers! 8/7/22
Matthew 27:32 (KJV)
32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
Over the MANY years of reading and studying my Bible, I have off wondered the WHY of this occurring-
WHY did Jesus need any help from a mortal human being and WHY was this unknown entity, “SIMON BY NAME” chosen and “COMPELLED TO BEAR HIS CROSS????????????????????????”
In response to my last sermon, a dear and faithful friend and fellow soldier of the Cross replied:
“Even Christ's cross became too heavy for Him and God put Simon there to carry it for Him and in return when the cross is too heavy and begins to crush us Christ steps in and carries it for us.”
I am BLESSED and honored to receive too frequent calls and desperate cries for help.
Rarely do I receive “good news” on the receiving end!
The Apostle Paul wrote that even with all his personal crosses to bear:
2 Corinthians 11:28 (KJV)
28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
The cross that we all all called upon to bear is NOT a popular subject and seldom preached from many pulpits.
As my dear wife testified several years ago in a rare appearance behind my pulpit, she remarked:
“If I had known from the day of my salvation the price I would be asked to pay..........??”
Beloved, sometimes/oftentimes WE need help carrying our cross!
THANK GOD FOR THE SIMONS OF THIS LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matthew 27:32 (KJV)
32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
Sometimes a SIMON can do little more than lend a sympathetic and listening ear.
Sometimes a SIMON can do nothing more but explain how they endured and defeated a similar trial.
A Simon can ALWAYS say a PRAYER!!!!
And sadly, oftentimes a Simon goes unknown and UN-named!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, “young girls they do grow weary! Wearing that same ole shabby dress!!”
OTIS REDDING-TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS!!!
Isaiah 40:30 (KJV)
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
Austin O'Malley is quoted as saying:
“THOSE WHO DESERVE LOVE THE LEAST NEED IT THE MOST!!!”
This Church and my ministry has always held to this one principle:
“We seek to carry the LIVING WATER-
NOT to the ocean but to the dessert-the ocean needs no more water!!!”
Jesus rightly declared:
Luke 5:31 (KJV)
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
Today my message is short but succinct-
BE A SIMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you see someone whose cross is unbearable alone........................................
God Bless You!!!
