Race Rock excursion August 31, 2019
Here is Saturday's group about to head out to Race Rock.
We took Kennedy Marine's buoy tender - a working vessel.
Keep your fingers crossed that effects from Hurricane Dorian don't affect Sunday's trip.

Don't Overlook New London -- and the Custom House Maritime Museum this week in the Boston Globe. Read it HERE .

The Custom House Maritime Museum, 150 Bank Street, New London, CT, is open  Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 5 PM.
After taking us to Race Rock Capt. Kennedy's next job was to use his buoy tender to deliver four pallets of grub, as well as a new crew, to this enormous tanker. We passed the ship as it was heading up to Montville and we were heading out to the Race.

Kelp is delicious and versatile, and farming it is actively good for the ocean. Melissa Clark wants you to just try a bite. Read it HERE.
We've now got photographer Josie Iselin' s new book ' The Curious World of Seaweed' , her custom-printed scarves and note card sets in the MUSEUM SHOP.
“Josie Iselin's wonderful new book explores a world just below the surface. One wonder is that seaweed performs such a vital role in the ecosystem, literally helping power life on Earth.... Her text puts seaweed in a historical framework full of surprising stories. The result is an adventure through art, science, and pure pleasure.”—Mary Ellen Hannibal, author of  Citizen Scientist "
