The warm weather is finally here and we've got an action-packed spring and summer already on the calendar.  


From the change over to the spring schedule on May 13th, the CrossFit Endurance Running Clinic, Memorial Day Murph, the return of the Cool Cruel Summer Series, AND the continuation of the 2013 CrossFit Games season, it's all arriving soon.  Also don't forget that the CrossFit Kids Summer Program starts June 10th!  See below for all the details.

Upcoming Events at Roots   


May 13th - Spring Schedule 

On Monday, May 13th the Spring Schedule will take effect. Look for exciting additions including more early morning and evening classes.
May 22nd - CrossFit Endurance Running Clinic
We spend hours perfecting our gymnastic and barbell techniques, or at least trying to become more efficient, but what about our running technique? We learned, at some point to crawl, walk, and then run, but that was the last time most of us have worked on getting better at running. This is your opportunity. Kick off the Summer Endurance season with a 3 session run clinic with Zac. See below for details. Sign up is now open online HERE.  
May 20th - Sign Up Opens for Summer Endurance Session
The 10 week Summer Endurance session with Zac kicks off on Tuesday, June 11th. The program meets Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:30 and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30am. Program includes 2 CFE WODs, 1 CFE Run Workout, and 1 programmed Homework Run per week. Sign Up HERE starting May 20th. Space is limited.


May 21st - Roots Free Class and Introductory Sesssion, 7pm

Do you have a friend who wants to know more about CrossFit? Do you want to show your mom or significant other what you're up to 4 days a week? Bring them to the Roots Free Class and Introductory session. Email to reserve a space.  


May 25-27th - Memorial Day Schedule and Murph
Roots will be running the regular weekend schedule on Saturday, May 25th. On Sunday, May 26th, join us as we honor our heroes. Roots will be holding a Memorial Day Murph Workout from 9-11am. Sign up on MBO. We will be closed on Monday, May 27th.

May 30th - Cool, Cruel Summer Series Kick Off
Join us for the first workout of the annual Cool, Cruel Summer Benchmark Series on Thursday, May 30th. Heats begin at 4:30pm. Stick around after for food and Happy Hour.
May 31-June 2nd - Southwest Regionals
Be a part of the action! Check out the Southwest Regionals in Salt Lake City and support Roots athlete Cindy Arangua as she fights for a spot at the 2013 CrossFit Games. As the largest CrossFit Open team in the Region, Roots has earned FREE tickets to Regionals! Email to reserve your tickets now.

June 10th - CrossFit Kids Summer Program Begins
Do you have or know a child who wants to get started with CrossFit? The Roots CrossFit Kid Summer Prorgram meets 2 days per week and starts on June 10th. Unlimited passes and punch cards are available. Sign up is open online HERE.
Tracie Heads off to Durango


As many of you have caught word of over the past few weeks, our very own coach Tracie Holcomb is leaving us on May 10th.  Off to take on an exciting new adventure, she and her family have decided to move to Durango.


While it saddens us greatly to think of her leaving the floor at Roots and our community, I also know that the sadness of her departure is far outweighed by the incredible, positive, and life changing influences she has had on all of us at Roots over the past five years.


The coaching staff is a better crew of individuals because of her.  We'll miss the shenanigans in the office, the cut throat attitude that challenged you to be better, and the caring friend we all love.  


Tracie, we wish you the very best on the Western Slope!


Run Clinic and Summer Session


We spend hours in class each week perfecting our gymnastic and barbell techniques, but what about our running technique?


At some point we learned to crawl, walk, and then run, but not much time is spent beyond that initial progression on bettering our running through practice.


During the month of May, between the Spring and Summer CrossFit Endurance sessions, Zac will offer two running clinics.  The clinics will meet at 6:30am or 12:30pm for three weeks: 

  • Wednesdays at 12:30 pm: May 22nd - June 5th
  • Thursdays at 6:30 am: May 23rd - June 6th
The cost for the clinic is $50 for the three sessions. 
The clinic will cover technique, drill work, and form repetition.  You can apply the work to your WODs, Trail Runs, 10Ks or while running down the street after your kids.  The clinic will focus on practice and repetition to get out of old or bad habits.  Come improve your running and share some laughs.


Also, the Summer Endurance Program dates are as follows: 

Date: June 11th - August 15th (10 Weeks)

Meeting Times: Tuesday 12:30 pm, Wednesday 12:30 pm, Thursday 6:30 am

Southwest Regionals - May 31-June 2nd


The CrossFit Games Regional Season is upon us!  
A very special congratulations to our very own Cindy Arangua who qualified for the 2013 CrossFit Regionals in Salt Lake City, UT the weekend of May 31st through June 2nd!
