Stewardship at Crossroads may seem about donations and volunteer work. But first, it’s addressing the question, “How do we better engage people in the life of the church?” In answering, the Council welcomes your help. Visitors to members. Members to active participants. Young people from attending to involvement and perhaps confirmation. Forming small affinity groups such as the new Men’s Group. Joining a kokua team, singing in the choir, actively participating on a mission team,
preparing meals for IHS and for Family Promise houseless people, building an on-campus Environment Center, maintaining our revamped, well-received website, keeping alive our Facebook and Instagram accounts, finding and sharing “Joys and Concerns” through the Chimes’ column, inspired by the Cosmic Bamboo Hui’s success in tying together their far-flung group.
Participation benefits both joiner and joined. After all, God is with us. We are the fortunate who believe “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” A group
including mission team members is studying how to expand member time and
talent in church activities. You are welcome to join them. Council members went back to their beginnings to answer what drew each deeper into church life.
Answers included the way members treat each other, church commitments to
social justice, feeling a connection to church life, and being accepted for who we are.
Additionally in Council work, we are seeking to engage our neighbor landowner Kamehameha Schools in understanding about their planned development in the area, including the area near the next-door Varsity site. And we are very happy to have CJ Jackson as our newly hired bookkeeper.
Please know that our “$100,000 for 100 Years” campaign honoring our past remains short of its goal; we appreciate and welcome your support (see below).
