The Story
Located in a 150-year-old historic riverside mill building, situated at 559 Main Street (Route 20) on the west end of Sturbridge, MA in Sturbridge Marketplace, you will find something new and very special.
Altruist Brewing Company was founded as a result of one family sharing their passion for beer with a group of neighbors, all strangers who had just moved to a new town. Friendships were made, bonds were built... over a passion for beer. As demand for our beer grew, we realized that we wanted to make this into something bigger... something we could share with more people. Altruist Brewing was born.
Before long, husband and wife, Bob & Nancy Bixby, teamed up with lifelong friend, Chris Mancini, to see the brewery come to fruition. The Altruist team is determined to continue the pursuit of creating amazing craft beer that will continue to bring people together, form bonds, and lifelong friendships...like it did for us. We do this through brewing small hand-crafted batches, adjusting each recipe in an endless pursuit of perfection, and including a big dose of love into each batch.
We are focused on giving back to the local community in true altruistic fashion.
Visit
Altruist Brewing Company online for more on the taproom, the brewing process, the beer, upcoming events, and more!

"We are committed to helping those in need in the areas we serve. No one should spend the winter without heat, especially during the cold weather conditions characteristic of New England," stated President and Treasurer Todd M. Tallman of Cornerstone Bank. "We are proud to make this donation to such a worthwhile organization and to be able to support our local community where they need it most."
WCAC is also responsible for helping to fund community initiatives including: Head Start, Early Head Start, Healthy Families of Southern Worcester County, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) and Youth Jobs & Education. Country Bank's Financial Literacy Cash Cab
To celebrate the holiday season this year, Country Bank decided to mix things up a bit. During the month of December, Country Bank's very own Ca$h Cab visited their branch locations to have some fun with their customers. The Country Bank Honda Pilot was transformed into a "Ca$h Cab" and provided an opportunity for customers and non-customers to take a "virtual cab ride" with various members from the Senior Management team. They were asked 10 financial literacy questions for a chance to win some extra dough. "This was just a little way for us to show our appreciation to our customers while having some fun and offering financial education. The extra spending money during the holiday season was also very much welcomed by our passengers," states Shelley Regin, Senior Vice President of Marketing.
To continue its support of financial education, they are launching a new website on January 17th which includes digital financial literacy modules on a variety of topics such as, savings, retirement, budgeting, investments, mortgages, taxes, insurance, etc. "These modules will provide the knowledge and skills needed to develop stronger financial capability and gain a better understanding of how to use our products and services," states Jodie Gerulaitis, Vice President, Community Relations.
To learn more about these great new education modules, please visit

Stageloft Theater Presents
The Boys Next Door
by Tom Griffin
January 12 - 21
Directed by Ed Cornely
A communal residence in a New England city, where four mentally challenged men live under the supervision of an earnest, but increasingly "burned out" young social worker named Jack. Norman, who works in a doughnut shop and is unable to resist the lure of the sweet pastries, takes great pride in the huge bundle of keys that dangles from his waist; Lucien P. Smith has the mind of a five-year-old but imagines that he is able to read and comprehend the weighty books he lugs about; Arnold, the ringleader of the group, is a hyperactive, compulsive chatterer, who suffers from deep-seated insecurities and a persecution complex; while Barry, a brilliant schizophrenic who is devastated by the unfeeling rejection of his brutal father, fantasizes that he is a golf pro.
Mingled with scenes from the daily lives of these four, where "little things" sometimes become momentous (and often very funny), are moments of great poignancy when, with touching effectiveness, we are reminded that the handicapped, like the rest of us, want only to love and laugh and find some meaning and purpose in the brief time that they, like their more fortunate brothers, are allotted on this earth.

After a successful run last year, Midwinter Mischief returns to Old Sturbridge Village this January and February! Midwinter Mischief combines theatrical storytelling, historical interpretation and period dining to offer guests a daytime winter adventure...
Imagine the tale of a Yankee peddler passing through the village who decides to settle down at the Bullard Tavern on a cold winter's night. There the peddler spends every dollar he has earned on food and drink, racking up a tab far beyond his means. After being confronted over his debt, the peddler fills up his cup with ashes from the hearth and promises the tavern owner that he will return with a cup overflowing of gold. From the Bullard Tavern, costumed storytellers, artisans, and villagers will entice tavern guests to wander deep into the village where they will find evidence of the peddler's adventures and schemes.
Admission to a Midwinter Mischief includes the two-hour outdoor/indoor experience and a period-inspired meal in the Village's Bullard Tavern where guests can enjoy live music, demonstrations, and a cash bar featuring hot beverages and 1830s-inspired libations. Each day, the first experience departs the Visitor Center at 9:00 am and the last at 3:00 pm, with experiences beginning every 20 minutes (except for noon and 12:20). After your adventure, you will be led to the Bullard Tavern Great Room where you can enjoy your inclusive hearty soup or stew meal.
