A Note from the Principal...
Dear Parents,
Greetings from the Principal’s office! Things are going well as the Crossroads School distance learning model continues to grow and evolve every day. We are running like a well-oiled machine now! We are having daily educational successes with our students and making wonderful memories having a little fun along the way!
As we continue to look to the future, we are having initial discussions around possibly building a summer program. We want to make sure that this program is inclusive, educational, and a fun experience for our students. They have missed so much time with their fellow classmates and teachers and our goal is to make up for as many lost moments and valuable face-to-face education as possible during the summer.
With that in mind, we absolutely want this to be a collaborative process. As parents, you all are the experts on what your child needs and what he/she has missed the most over the past (and coming) months. We want to hear from you! What would your ideal summer program for your child look like? Is it a full day or a half day? Or maybe an option for both? Would you want more emphasis on pure education and academics or more of a fun day camp experience? Or some mixture of the two? While we anticipate that we may have some limitations surrounding the program where staffing is concerned, (this will not be a required assignment for our faculty) we would sincerely like to hear who is interested in enrolling and what your thoughts are for the framework.
Please stay safe and healthy and be sure to contact any member of the Leadership Team or Faculty with your ideas!

Steps for Kindness
As Seen Off Campus - Social Skills Class on Zoom
Ms. Ayesha's Social Skill class spoke about each other's feelings this past week. While students were happy to see each other on a digital platform, many stated that it just wasn't the same as being in person with their friends. Understandably, many students were unhappy about not being able to attend school in-person for the remainder of the semester.

Students also practiced video etiquette, which was mentioned in last week's newsletter, while attending their virtual Social Skills class. This included raising one's hand to be called on by the teacher and being present and giving others my attention.
As Seen Off Campus - Digital Show & Tell
Ms. Azmae's English Language Arts class has enjoyed the recently added 'Digital Show & Tell' to their Zoom meetings. Students are able to choose from various topic ideas such as a favorite hobby, something that is special to the student, or a favorite memory among other topics and then write about them along with showing the class a photo.
Student Photography - Deadline Extended
Due to technical difficulties with our photographer's camera on Picture Day that was held this past February, we are unable to use the photos that were taken of your child.
In an effort to still have your child's photo in this year's yearbook, we would like you, the parents, to be the photographer!  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately from the waist up. You are welcome to use your cell phone to take your child's photograph, but please make sure it is taken with the  highest resolution possible .
While you have your camera out, please  also include various candids of your student learning at home. We will also include some of them in a fun yearbook spread.
Please email all student photos to Julianne by May 1st.

The funds we anticipated raising at this event would have directly support the Operations Budget of the school. Please consider donating the funds you were planning to spend while attending the Gala.

You can use the link below to donate on Giving Tuesday OR...feel free to donate on a Monday, or a Wednesday.... We would be a happy recipient of you donation dollars ANY DAY of the week!

If you prefer, you may also send a check directly to the school. (See the address in the footer of this newsletter.)
