A Note from Acting Head of School...
Dear Parents,

There is not a parent among us who would simply hand the car keys over to a child without first providing hours of instructions and guidance on how to maneuver the open roads ahead of them. However, many of us do just that when it comes to the internet and the cyber highways.

This Wednesday night, Crossroads School has invited Special Agent Tania Johnston from the US Secret Service to lead a 45-minute PowerPoint presentation for parents and guardians. She will discuss the risks and facts parents need to know about our children's online activities. The goal is to provides age-appropriate resources to help teach children how to be safer on- and offline.

Tania is scheduled to make age-appropriate presentations directly to our students later in the month. We encourage all parents, guardians and friends to attend this worthwhile event. This NetSmartz Workshop is an interactive, educational program of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children ®  .
NetSmartz Goals:
Educate  children on how to recognize potential Internet risks
Engage  children and adults in a two-way conversation about on- and offline ris
Empower  children to help prevent themselves from being exploited and to report victimization to a trusted adult

Parents are invited to attend our first Thanksgiving Feast here on campus. We will feature the first formal performance our new school song titled, "Where Everyone Can Feel Welcome." It was conceived and written by the students over the last five weeks with the wonderful education team at Da Camera.

Be sure to come early so you don't miss the performance. It will be at the beginning of our event.

Parents, we are looking for a little more help with set-up and clean-up. Please click on the link below and check out the SIGN-UP GENIE to see the items and assistance needed.

Photo Orders Due by Nov. 12

Don't forget to order your official school portraits.

Contact Julianne if you need another order form. (They were sent home with your student last week and included a proof. Should you desire a re-take of your student, please let us know.)

Our Audio Visual students did an amazing job embracing the task of becoming the school's official photographers! Each AV student learned about setting the lighting, planning and testing backdrop locations as well as how to interact with their subject to catch a natural image that reflects the personality of the individual.
Food Drive - Continues until Thanksgiving Break
Students are getting very excited about the possibility of seeing Mr. Justin dressed up like a big Turkey!! This is the reward for collecting over 300 items in our Fall Food Drive. Other rewards include extra recess time for the whole school and a movie afternoon at school if we exceed our goal and collect 400 items.

There is a large collection bin in the school office. For each item donated, the students will add one feather on the turkey bulletin board.
(above) Our bulletin board started out very empty. Students add one turkey feather for each item donated to the Food Drive.

(right) Our Turkey is starting to fill up. We are half-way to our first goal of collecting 200 items.

We are collecting up through Nov. 16.
