A Note from Acting Head of School...
Dear Parents,
We started our morning a bit tired but positive about Open House last night. We appreciated the opportunity to meet with so many of our families and share information about the program and curriculum with Middle School and High School parents. (Our Elementary Parents will have a rescheduled Open House soon.)
Please help us to continually improve by completing this very short survey about the Open House. We ask that all parents click through to the survey even if you were unable to attend.

REMINDER: Crossroads will have EARLY DISMISSAL this Wednesday, September 26. All students should be picked up at 12:30 PM.
There will be no after-school Homework Skills.

These early dismissal days are scheduled throughout the year to allow staff to attend in-service training sessions. In addition to the specialist we bring in to the school, Crossroads School receives external Title II and Title IV funding through HISD. The purpose of these federally mandated programs is to help Private Non-Profit Schools increase student achievement in well-rounded education subjects by improving teacher effectiveness in the classroom. The funds cover professional development opportunities locally, on-line and out of state and we receive an "equitable service" share. This means that public schools and private schools both receive the same amount of funding per student.

(While we are talking about early dismissal, remember that October 1-4 will also have early dismissal at 12:30 PM in order for us to hold Parent/Teacher Conferences. Watch your email for information to sign up for a time slot.)

As Seen On Campus...
The goal of conducting Fire Drills is to make sure everyone knows the procedures and is able to keep safe, keep calm and efficiently exit all buildings to safety.

On our first Fire Drill of the school year, it took 1 minute and 17 seconds to exit and check all buildings and confirm 100% of staff and students were checked in. Everyone involved responded as instructed. Students were calm and prepared.
Great Job Crossroads Staff and Students!
Got Composting Items?

Our Physical Science class has planted three pots outside their classroom with different kids of soil. One pot will have regular soil, another will have coffee grinds, and the third will have compost added to see which pot grows the tallest flowers.

If you have coffee grounds or egg shells to contribute, please send them into school in zip lock bags. The students would appreciate the help.
Click HERE to go directly the the Yankee Candle website and order. Crossroads will receive 40% on all orders placed through this link so please share it with your friends! Click HERE for a flyer with more details.
