    1. I grew up in a small town in Northern Illinois, with a population of around 2,500 people.  However, that included the medium security prison that was located at the edge of town.
    2. Back in 1996 when the Fox River flooded, it was just crazy to see that much water everywhere.  The local restaurant, which is a two-story building and about 750 feet from the river's edge, had 2 feet of water on the second floor! You could also see that the water line was up to the roofs of the other homes in town.  Normally, the river only has a few feet of water.  We were very fortunate not to have any damage.
    3. Growing up, I spent most of my summers on my uncle's farm.  Once I was in high school and through college, working on his farm was my part-time job.  I still try to get out there and help out when I can.
    4. In high school, I took a building trades class at the local vocational school.  Our task was to build a house.  It was pretty cool to go through the process of taking a foundation and turning it into a home.
    5. I met my wife in an accounting class in college and we have been together for 12 years.  Ironically, we are both property accountants for real estate companies.
    6. I have two kids - a 2 ½ year old girl and a 2 ½ month old boy.  Everyday my daughter comes up with ways to surprise me - either what she can do or what she says....some days I really don't know what to say back to her.
    7. I have never traveled outside the lower 48 states and have not been to the West Coast.  On my future travel list is Alaska, Hawaii, and Australia.
    8. I used to fly remote control airplanes in my free time (before kids), which I have been trying to get back into...I have been trying to build one for the last 4 years.
    9. In what free time I do have, I enjoy woodworking.  I have made a few benches, storage units, and a hope chest for around the house.
    10. I have a dog named Jamie, who just turned 10 years old a few months ago.  She is the mother hen of the house and makes sure the kids stay out of trouble.  When kids are running up and down our street, she goes running and barking to the window like she is telling them to stop running...
