Crosstown Connection Sept 25- Oct 1
This Sunday:
Arrive Ministries is Here
This Sunday Arrive Ministries will be here to kick off Equip Hour. Plan to join us to learn more about ways to love and care for our displaced neighbors. Also Lois Young has opened her home to host refugees in need. Please use the google form to learn how you can support her in this ministry.
What is the average age of people who are displaced from their homes?
Equip Hour Returns
Equip Hour will still be an hour, 10:45-11:45, to dig into the Word of God, to learn more about local ministries, and to grow together. The reimagined Equip Hour will still have youth, children, and adult offerings. Comment Section is returning with some strategic combining of adults and youth.
This Sunday we kick off with a special presentation and the Community Caring Commission will be providing treats to celebrate the return of Equip Hour.
New Sermon Series
"Nothing is more important than dealing with our own identity... I deal with identity because I must and because I am convinced that is what the Bible is really about. It seeks to tell us who God says we are."
-Klyne Snodgrass

This Sunday we kick off a new sermon series about Identity. Who does God say you are?
Congratulations!
At church retreat last weekend we celebrated the baptisms of three young men: Leo Inestroza, Roman Inestroza, and Noah Buchanan. Be sure to share a note of encouragement to these guys as they have taken a big step in their discipleship journey.
Want to see more pictures from retreat? Check out our photo catalog and email Kristi if you have photos to add.

Celebrating Latina(o) Heritage Month
September 15-October 15

In Revelation 7:9 we are presented with a vision of humanity gathered around the throne of God. We hear that there are persons “from every nation, tribe, people and language.” One way we’re seeking to celebrate this multi-ethnic mosaic at Crosstown is by focusing upon Latina(o) Heritage Month. This cohort includes those from Central & South America as well as the Caribbean. Did you know that this group includes 62 million persons (18.7% of the U.S. population)? As we seek to learn about our Latina(o) friends, Pastor John encourages us to read the following:
God Made Me Hispanic. And It Was Good.

For a long time, Rebecca Kelsall wondered why some of the things she treasured looked different than the joys of most of her Christian friends. It was years before God helped her realize that, because she was...

Searching for a New Director of Worship Arts
This week as you continue in prayer for a new Worship Director, remember this promise found in Romans 8:28: "We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him." RSV

What may seem at first to be a hardship, disappointment, or more change than we feel up for right now, can always be used by God for good if we cooperate with Him and love Him. It's a promise!!! Let's choose to believe that God has a plan for Crosstown Covenant Church that is far greater than we can see if we only look down at our feet on our journey with Him. May we search our hearts for places we are not surrendering to God and where our love for Him is lacking. Then pray as a child of God and even expect His good gift in advance. We are united in prayer with you!

Thank you for your prayers,
The Worship Director Search Committee
Dennis Olson (Deacon, Chair of Worship Search), Mark Ogawa (Elder), Mike Anderson (church chair), Kathy McGillivray (congo rep), Michelle Acosta (congo rep), Iris Smyth (congo rep), John Jacobi (pastor)
