Crosstown Connection Nov 12-19
|
|
The Old Testament is full of intentional praise and remembrances of God's deliverance. Apparently it is easy to forget what He has already led us through. That's why this year we are trying to remember Crosstown's history. If Psalm 136 was written about Crosstown's people what would it say? Add your lines and thoughts in our blog post or in person Nov 14th. Let's reminisce about God's goodness together.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. How do we practice Biblical Thanksgiving?
What better time to join Kathy McGillivray Nov 17th at 6:30pm for a time of singing Thanksgiving hymns, reminiscing about the work of God through Crosstown, and sharing personal testimonies of the many awesome things God has done in our lives this past year. You can even request your favorite hymn on the spot and we’ll do our best to sing it.

🖊️ Question from Elder Team
The Elder team is praying about what our relationship in our community looks like going forward. If you have connections or want to give input about how we can serve our neighbors, please let us know! Where should Crosstown plug in?

Many hands make ______ ______.
Thanks to all those who came out on Saturday for our Family Work Day! As a team, we accomplished much in our church building! Thankful for the youngest hands of 7 months, all the way to the wisest hands of 70+. Check out the pictures of our church family working hard to care for our building!

--- Wednesday Nights ---
Programming runs from 6:30-7:45pm. No groups Nov 24th.
|
|
What are groups studying?
Youth Group is exploring the "masks" we wear. Parents, after asking your kids what they talked about in youth group, share about the "labels" you've struggled with.
Kids Too! You are invited! Yes YOU! Worship is a party we are all invited to attend and participate in. Jesus tells the disciples in Luke 19 that rocks will cry out to God. What in the world? When will that happen?
The Adult option on Nov 17 will explore the practice of giving thanks in song, word, and story. (More information in the above announcement.)

Sanctuary Renovation Project
As of Oct 2nd, donations to the Sanctuary Renovation Project (SRP) fund totaled $20,384.88, an increase of $2,854.67 since the last report and moving us past the halfway point of the $40,000 giving target. The balance in the fund is $19,814.88 because we have already started paying for the project.
Again, thanks to those who have given one-time donations and those who continue to support the project with monthly contributions. If you would like to see us meet this goal soon, please consider a one-time contribution or a monthly offering to the SRP.

Looking for Donations!
Crosstown is working on a holiday meal distribution. The NENA food shelf has ended for the 2021 year. We would like to step into that food gap and put together 100 meal kits.
If you would like to help with the organization of this project please email Kristi. If you would like to donate food, check out our blog post for all the details.
|
Meals will be distributed at our Crosstown Christmas Celebration event on Dec 15. This will be an outdoor festival of bonfires, petting zoo, games, and warm beverages.

Did you guess right?
Wow! People jumped all over this picture. Yes, it's the large rugged cross currently serving as a focal point in our temporary sanctuary. Well done Dennis, Deena, Aaron, Kari, Emily, Katie, and Mike.
On Monday we publish an up close and personal image of something on the church property and then see if you can name the item and where it's located. 🤔

This is Kristi's 151st Newsletter!
Did you know that Kristi has been writing the Crosstown Newsletter since Nov 2018?
After having conversation with Amy Linnell about our desire to pursue a church newsletter she started an account with Constant Contact and began publishing. Eventually Amy moved on and I took over creating the newsletter. This continued under Becky Cairns and then Cindy Erickson. In 2019 the 5 hours-a-week volunteer job became a paid staff position and shortly after that I transitioned to becoming the Office & Communications Manager.
Thank you for opening the newsletter weekly and taking time to read! We boast a 63% open rate, which is well above industry average, and a 15% click-through rate to explore content more deeply.

Praying for a New Director of Worship Arts
Let's take encouragement to pray for a new Worship Arts Director from Jeremiah this week. Write the highlighted verse down somewhere, and keep it handy each day as you come to prayer.
Call to me and I will answer you. I'll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own. Jeremiah 33:3 (MSG)
In Christ's family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. We are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ. Galatians 3:28-29a (MSG)
Thank you for your prayers,
The Worship Director Search Committee
Dennis Olson (Deacon, Chair of Worship Search), Mark Ogawa (Elder), Mike Anderson (church chair), Kathy McGillivray (congo rep), Michelle Acosta (congo rep), Iris Smyth (congo rep), John Jacobi (Pastor)
