Farewell Pastor Tom

This Sunday, April 19th, please join us for a time of gratitude, Godspeed and send-off at both services and during coffee time.

Thank you dear friends and members of St. Barnabas. What a gift to have been with you in this time of interim. God be with you all in this next exciting chapter. I hope to see you around the Synod!

In gratitude and peace,

Pastor Tom

Welcome Pastor Mark Tiede!

Pastor Mark will be starting his ministry here at St. Barnabas on Monday, April 20th and he will be installed on Sunday, April 26th.

Quilts on Display this Sunday

Quilts have been placed in the sanctuary for blessings before they are taken to the Lutheran World Relief warehouse for shipment around the world, to Lutheran Social Service in MN for refugees, and North Memorial Hospital for long term patients, hospice, and children.

Quilts will be on display through Sunday, April 26th. You can take one (or more) home for at least a $50 donation to help us purchase quilting supplies.

Summer Worship Schedule

Once again, this summer from Memorial Day through Labor Day, we will have one combined worship service on Sundays at 9:30am.

The summer schedule begins Sunday, May 24th and ends Sunday, September 6th. We will return to 2 services beginning Sunday, September 13th.

Hospital Visitation

If you or someone you know will be hospitalized and would like a visit from a pastor, please reach out directly to the church office or one of the pastors. HIPAA confidentiality laws prohibit hospitals from sharing patient information.

The Prayer Chain

If you would like to participate in praying for our members and friends, please talk with Pastor Tom. If you would like to request prayer from our Prayer Chain, contact Brenda in the church office or talk with Pastor Tom or our Pastoral Assistant Bryce. Please indicate if you would like your prayer request to be shared with the congregation, or if it is confidential.

2026-2027 Church Directory

We are in the process of updating the church directory to be ready for printing by mid-May. It's very important that we have the correct contact information for our members.

Please let us know if any of the following pertain to you:

·   You don’t have a picture in the directory and would like one added

·   You want your existing picture updated (kids are older, etc.)

·   You moved and have a new home address

·   You have a new email address

·   You have a new mobile phone number

·   You no longer have a landline phone

Changes and updates will be accepted no later than Friday, May 8th.

If you would like your picture taken, one of the council members can take it while at church or you can stop by the office during business hours M-F to have it taken. You can also email pictures to Brenda in the church office brenda@stbarnabaslutheran.org.

Free Flowers

We still have several lilies and a few hydrangeas for anyone who would like to take one home.

Storage Room Clean-up/Clear-out!

For Sunday school teachers or anyone else who uses art supplies and crafting materials from the storage room next to Karl's office, you will now be able to find what you're looking for without digging into messy bins. Brenda sorted through all the supplies and put them into seperate storage containers and labeled each one. A big Thanks to Karl for ordering such a nice variety of containers. Hopefully we can keep things nice and organized moving forward.

Confirmation enjoyed an outdoors class today, a reflection on Spring and Easter promise of new life! Thanks to Eric for the great idea.

Fascinating Fun Facts

  • Ancient Species: They are among the oldest living bird species, dating back 2.5 million years to the time of mammoths.

  • They mate for life and stay with their partners year-round.

  • Chicks (called colts) can leave the nest, walk, and swim within 8 hours of hatching.

  • They travel thousands of miles, with some populations migrating 10,000 miles to northern breeding grounds.

  • Their loud, rattling, bugling cry is caused by a long trachea (windpipe) that coils into their sternum.

  • They often rub mud on their feathers, turning their gray plumage a rusty red to blend in with their environment.

  • They have a wingspan of 6–7 feet.

  • They can live for over 37 years.
