Call Committee Update

Our first round of interviews, conducted last week, were thought-provoking and energizing. We had the opportunity to meet with many wonderful candidates to learn about their talents and experiences and imagine together how they might fit as lead pastor. Following this, the call committee spent time discerning which candidates to ask back for second interviews. These are scheduled for next week and we will continue working to prepare, so please keep us in your prayers!

Other News & Church Activities

Care Partnering Group

Meet with Melissa Weinhandl to discuss the challenges of caregiving, get support from others in similar situations, receive resources for extra assistance. This group will meet on four Mondays: February 2, 9, 16, 23, from 1pm-2pm in the Family Resource Center at St. Barnabas. Your loved one is also invited to come and participate in a separate program (hymn sing, coloring/painting activities, conversation, etc.) in the Gardenview Room.

VOLUNTEERS are also needed to assist with the spouse/loved ones activities. There is a sign up sheet at the Welcome Center to register for this group or as a volunteer. Please contact Melissa for further details or with

questions (952-484-9859).

Word for Women

Word for Women, a St. Barnabas women’s book group, meets weekly at church on Thurs. mornings 9:30am-11am. We invite you to join us to discuss our next book, “Separation of Church and Hate” by John Fugelsang. The author invites us to find ways to talk about the Bible when confronted with views that run counter to the teachings of Jesus. This book is controversial and may challenge us at times. We will begin reading chapters, 1-7, Jan. 22-Feb 12. We will pause Ash Wed through Holy Week for a Lent study resource. The group will read chapters 8-14 April 9-30. Please sign up and indicate if you will need assistance purchasing a book. Pastor Alexandra George: pastoralex@stbarnanbaslutheran.org

Gift of Love

January "Gift of Love"

San Pablo/St. Paul

St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1887 to meet the spiritual needs of the Swedish Lutherans of the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis. Much has changed in the neighborhood, but their purpose remains strong- to meet the needs of the neighborhood and faith community, through weekly worship as well as deep community involvement. They are a central fixture in the neighborhood, with their building hosting one medical clinic, daily Spanish-language AA meetings, and the Semilla Center for Healing and the Arts.

Our annual Fire & Ice winter festival includes games, entertainment, food and fireworks. Following cancellations in recent years due to poor ice conditions, the annual event will look a little different this year as it moves from a frozen lake setting to a park.
