Church News

Final Pastor on Deck Session!

Due to a scheduling conflict, this final session has been relocated and will now be hosted by Pastor Mark here at St. Barnabas on Tuesday, July 21st at 6:00pm. If you already signed up to attend, please make sure you come to church. There's still plenty of room so if anyone else would like to attend, please sign up at the Welcome Center no later than this Sunday.

Pastor Tom Olson Update

Pastor Tom received notice last Monday that Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove, voted to call him as Pastor of Generosity and Outreach. In his new role, he will be supporting the senior pastor in her vision for the congregation with a focus on stewardship development and growing community partnerships. They will share staff supervision of program and support staff, preaching, and other pastoral duties. He said it’s a great fit for him. 

Hospital Visitation

If you or someone you know will be hospitalized and would like a visit from our pastor, please reach out to the church office or directly to Pastor Mark. HIPAA confidentiality laws prohibit hospitals from sharing patient information.

The Prayer Chain

If you would like to participate in praying for our members and friends, please talk with Pastor Mark. If you would like to request prayer from our Prayer Chain, contact Brenda in the church office or talk with Pastor Mark. Please indicate if you would like your prayer request to be shared with the congregation, or if it is confidential. 

Prayer Shawls

Prayer Shawls are made with prayers woven into each one. They are a tangible way to help people feel the prayers of the congregation and to experience God in a warm and loving way. If you would like to have (or share) a prayer shawl, they are located on the lowest shelf of the Donation Station in the Narthex or reach out to Bonnie Welshons.

Other News & Church Activities

Redeemer Lutheran Church Cookout

St. Barnabas will be helping with Redeemer Lutheran’s cookout on Wednesday, July 22nd. We are not making the food this year, but will be providing music during the meal, offering some outdoor children’s

activities and may also roll out crusts and make some pizzas to order. Help is needed from approximately 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Glenwood Avenue church in North Minneapolis. Please sign up at the Welcome Center and indicate your preferred role. For more information, contact Beth Grosen.

The Bridge for Youth

The need for services at The Bridge is critical. Nearly 6,000 youth experience homelessness every night in Minnesota. The Bridge supports minor youth ages 10-17 and centers youth voice, justice and equity in all they do, and empowers youth experiencing homelessness through safe shelter, basic needs, and healthy relationships. All youth feel safe, accepted, and supported.

Free Vein Screening Event + Lunch

Have you noticed varicose or spider veins—or changes in how your legs feel? You're not alone. Symptoms can start mild, but they may worsen over time if left unaddressed.

Join us on Wednesday, July 22nd, anytime between 11am–7pm at our Maple Grove clinic.

Summer Food Drive for IOCP

Help us feed our neighbors!

St. Barnabas is hosting a joint food drive for Plymouth’s Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners (IOCP). Our campus partners, Qué Tal, the Boy Scouts and Kimbanguist Church, have also joined the effort.

With your help, we have passed the 1,300 lbs. mark! Great Job!

Through the end of July, please bring your non-perishable food items to church and place them in or near the blue box by Donation Station located in the Narthex.

Watch our donation "thermometer" rise in the Ministry Center.

Photos of the Week

Lots of beautiful flowers here in the church gardens. If you have never seen the gardens, you should take a walk around the church someday and look at all the work our volunteer gardeners do to keep it maintained.
