Over the next few weeks, we will read and discuss the book God Meets Us in Our Suffering by Dr. Rolf Jacobson, Dr. Karl Jacobson, and Pastor Mike Pancoast.

The Book's description: A cancer diagnosis changes everything. Fear, uncertainty, and suffering become daily realities—not just for patients but also for families, friends, and caregivers. Where is God in this?
In God Meets Us in Our Suffering, three pastors who journeyed through cancer together share their deeply personal stories. With honesty, compassion, and humor, they offer theologically rich reflections on illness and hope, including:
- how to navigate doubt and find strength in the theology of the cross;
- how Psalm 23 guides us through uncertainty and suffering;
- how God meets us in suffering with grace and power; and
- how laughter, love, and community sustain us in the darkest moments.
For those living with a serious illness and those journeying alongside them, this book offers comfort, courage, and a renewed trust in God's faithfulness.

Pastor on Deck Sessions!
We still have some July dates open. You can sign up at the Welcome Center for the one session that fits your schedule best.

These sessions are a wonderful opportunity to build community and look intentionally at our timeline: past, present, and future. Together, we are discussing who St. Barnabas was at its inception, who we are right now, and who we want to become—including what staff infrastructure we need to achieve that vision. If your schedule doesn't allow you to attend, you can still participate from afar. Please pray over these questions and share your reflections with us.

Hospital Visitation
If you or someone you know will be hospitalized and would like a visit from our pastor, please reach out to the church office or directly to Pastor Mark. HIPAA confidentiality laws prohibit hospitals from sharing patient information.

The Prayer Chain
If you would like to participate in praying for our members and friends, please talk with Pastor Mark. If you would like to request prayer from our Prayer Chain, contact Brenda in the church office or talk with Pastor Mark. Please indicate if you would like your prayer request to be shared with the congregation, or if it is confidential.

Prayer Shawls
Prayer Shawls are made with prayers woven into each one. They are a tangible way to help people feel the prayers of the congregation and to experience God in a warm and loving way. If you would like to have (or share) a prayer shawl, they are located on the lowest shelf of the Donation Station in the Narthex or reach out to Bonnie Welshons.

Seniors and Friends
Join us for Seniors and Friends on Tuesday, July 14th at 11:00am. We will start with worship, then share a meal together. Stick around after lunch for a fun activity. You can sign up at the Welcome Center.

Redeemer Lutheran Church

4pm-10pm, this family-friendly event features a pickleball tournament, live music, and a nightcap fireworks show.

St. Louis Park Fireworks Celebration ~ July 3rd
Located at Aquila Park in St. Louis Park, have a night to remember with family and friends of all ages at one of the best fireworks shows in the Twin Cities! Enjoy food trucks, entertainment, music, and fireworks. Entertainment and food trucks from 7pm-10pm. Fireworks begin at 10pm.

Hometown Celebration ~ July 3rd
Taking place at Round Lake Park, Eden Prairie, this large gathering includes food trucks, live music, a beer garden, and a spectacular fireworks display.

Music in Plymouth ~ July 8th
Plymouth’s signature summer event, Music in Plymouth, returns for the 54th year at the Hilde Performance Center, 3500 Plymouth Blvd. The event runs from 5:30pm-11:30pm and features live musical performances, food vendors, and a stunning grand finale fireworks display.

Summer Food Drive for IOCP
Help us feed our neighbors! Throughout June and July, St. Barnabas is hosting a joint food drive for Plymouth’s Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners (IOCP). Our campus partners, Qué Tal, the Boy Scouts and Kimbanguist Church, are also joining the effort.
Here is how you can participate:

What to bring: Non-perishable food items (a list of most needed items is available at the Donation Station in the Narthex

When to bring them: When you attend worship or a church event.
- Where to drop them off:
~ St. Barnabas members: Blue box by Donation Station.
~ Qué Tal, Boy Scouts, Kimbanguist Church: Ministry Center boxes.
Track our progress! St. Barnabas member Mike Barnes will collect, weigh, and deliver all donations to IOCP. Watch our donation "thermometer" rise in the Ministry Center.
