Church News

During Lent

Our Council has asked us to go on a journey! This is an important journey, one of reflection and growth through the Congregational Assessment Tool (CAT). The tool will be distributed on-line and also available for those off-line starting March 24th through April 13th. The responses will be interpreted and used in creating our Mission Site Profile for calling a new pastor.

Every response will matter, and together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant community.

Lent Worship & Soup Suppers

Soup Suppers ~ Wednesdays starting at 5:15pm through 6:30pm

Worship Services ~ Wednesdays at 6:30pm

Book Series During Lent

Wednesdays during the season of Lent, our theme will be Baptized, We Live, a five-week series using Daniel Erlander’s book of the same title on being a Lutheran. We will explore the theme during evening worship, as well as during a study immediately following worship. Holden Evening Prayer will be our weekly worship liturgy.

If you would like to purchase a book, you can sign up at the Welcome Center. Books are $7.00 and you can pay with cash or a check made out to St. Barnabas. Please place your payment in the envelope located next to the books.

Come for soup at 5:15, Worship at 6:30, and stay for the study at 7:15!

Like Coffee?

Everyone enjoys having a treat and a cup of coffee with their friends on Sunday mornings, but we can’t offer this ministry of fellowship without people to host the coffee hour. While we could use more volunteers in lots of ministry areas, we’re especially in need of extra Coffee Hosts. If you’ve never volunteered in this area before, we will train you in everything you need to know. Sign up at the Welcome Center.

Hospital Visitation

If you or someone you know will be hospitalized and would like a visit from a pastor, please reach out directly to the church office or one of the pastors. HIPAA confidentiality laws prohibit hospitals from sharing patient information.

The Prayer Chain

If you would like to participate in praying for our members and friends, please talk with Pastor Tom or Pastor Stephanie. If you would like to request prayer from our Prayer Chain, contact Brenda in the church office or talk with one of our pastors. Please indicate if you would like your prayer request to be shared with the congregation, or if it is confidential. For those needing our prayers, any member of the congregation can request a prayer shawl for themselves, friends or family. Please contact Bonnie Welshons or Brenda in the church office to obtain a prayer shawl and the pamphlet that goes with it.

Scam Alerts!

If you get an email or text message from church staff asking to purchase gift cards or to do a favor, DO NOT respond to them. Block and delete them immediately. No one at St. Barnabas will ever ask you to do this. If

communication feels "off" it probably is. Call the church or email a known address to confirm if you're unsure. Email Scams! St. Barnabas staff will ONLY use their church email address when reaching out to members:

(example: pastortom@stbarnabaslutheran.org; brenda@stbarnabaslutheran.org).

Loving Our Neighbors Through Action

There have been many conversations around St. Barnabas in past weeks that included the question and the statement, “What can I do? I feel like I need to DO something” in relation to the current social and political climate. The Outreach and Justice Team has surfaced one action step that is intended to communicate our solidarity with and intention to protect our immigrant neighbors. Click here to read more.
