Reflections Pledge Commitments Due this Sunday!
This Sunday we will receive your 2025 pledge cards during our offering time of worship. We will also have a special blessing of the pledges. We welcome pledge cards after that date if you are not able to attend, simply mail back to church, or drop off in the office.
The question on many of our minds is “the mortgage is paid, now what?”
However, right now it is more like the mortgage is paid, now wait...for the responses to this year’s Reflections appeal…a historic appeal, the 1st general fund appeal without a co-existing capital appeal for the mortgage.
For years, based on the relative expenditures of the general and building funds, the recommendation for pledges and contributions was roughly 2/3 general fund and 1/3 building fund.
Now, it is simply 100% general fund!
Our hope is for the general fund to grow by absorbing the rededication of bygone building fund contributions.
This growth will be instrumental in discerning what the next chapter of our St. Barnabas ministry and community can be.
• Is the two-pastor model sustainable?
• Can we consider adding additional staff?
• Can we increase our social ministry’s resources and outreach?
• Can we afford the extraordinary repairs and maintenance our beautiful
and busy building will inevitably require?
Your pledge commitment is essential to the process of discernment, visualizing, imagining, and planning for what comes next.
Please do your part - prayerfully and with a heart open to the awesome possibilities for our community gathered here and our communities scattered all around us.

Ruth and Eithan Update
Last Friday was a day of celebration for Ruth, Eithan and the sponsorship team with Eithan's 5th birthday party! We enjoyed Ruth's Arroz con Pollo with cake and ice cream for dessert. Ruth's (and our) neighbor friend from Tapestry, Angel, joined the party and made sure we could sing Happy Birthday in both English and Spanish. With Angel's translating assistance, Ruth had written beautiful, heartfelt notes of gratitude to the team; it was a meaningful day for all of us honored to be her new family.
This week, we request prayers that Eithan's school transportation will be worked out, and give thanks for progress with benefits, food pantries, and many pleasant government employees helping us navigate this path. Stay tuned to hear about the Tapestry fund-raising brunch we'll be attending on Saturday!

College Care Packages
We would like to remind our college students that we love them and are thinking about them, especially as exam time is coming up, so we’re planning on sending out care packages shortly after Thanksgiving. Parents-please give Pastor Stephanie your students’ college addresses so we know where to send the packages. Congregation-please consider donating to the packages-we could use hot cocoa, microwave popcorn, fun post-its, pens, chapsticks, and any other little comforts you can think of! We will be assembling
packages between services on Sunday, November 24th.

Do you love to cook?
If so, WE NEED YOU!
St. Barnabas is in need of experienced cooks to take lead in the kitchen for special events here at church like Seniors and Friends, Lenten Soup Suppers, Easter breakfast, etc.
As the lead cook, you would give direction to other volunteers that are helping plate and serve the food for the event.
The amazing cooks we have now won't be able to do it much longer so it's important that we find others who want to take on this very rewarding role.
If you’re interested and would like more detailed information, please call Brenda in the church office.

A Note from Pastor Hierald
Greetings beloved,
This morning, I came to the church to find that our healing garden project is underway. Where the grass is torn up, we are going to build a labyrinth for prayer and meditation. The unearthed vegetation will become nourishing compost for next spring’s native prairie garden. On a day where the future feels uprooted, the Spirit prepares a new path.
Today I acknowledge the knot in my stomach, the hurt in my heart. And I also profess my faith: God has placed us in each other’s lives and given us meaningful work to do. God has created a community of resilient survivors, people who understand what it means to live in uncertainty and who thrive against all odds. You are not alone; your St. Paul’s-San Pablo family is here for you with food, prayer, and defiant joy.
God has made a way for us, and even now St. Paul’s-San Pablo leaders will implement strategies anticipated for this election outcome. We’ll share more details in the coming weeks.
One thing we can share now: we have already raised a third of the money we need to install a shower, washing machine, and dryer in our building. When newly arrived neighbors show up at our door looking for community and care, we will be ready. Will you help us affirm the dignity of newly arrived immigrant neighbors? With a goal of $60,000, we only have $38,000 more to go.
“You gotta put one foot in front of the other and lead with love.” Melanie DeMore sang these words in the aftermath of the 2016 election, and we’ll keep singing them in the months to come. May we lead with Christ’s love, one step at a time.
In gratitude and love for all of you,
Pr. Hierald+

November "Gift of Love"
Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative
We believe in home. Our many faiths call us to act to create more equitable communities where all people have a home. Beacon is a non-profit collaborative of nearly 100 congregations of all faiths in Minnesota. As volunteers, we help advocate for new low-income housing and funding for buildings, services and rent support. Over 500,000 people in Minnesota are unable to afford their rent. Our church has been active in Beacon for nearly 10 years. It is part of the Justice and Outreach ministry at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church.

Wayzata High School Theatre Presents Footloose
Footloose is an upbeat, and high energy musical following the story of Ren McCormack as he moves from bustling Chicago to the small town of Bomont. He quickly learns that the town has strict laws introduced by the town’s pastor, Reverend Shaw. One of these laws even bans dancing which leads Ren, a guy who just can’t stand still, to rally his classmates to fight back. Along the way, he teams up with the pastor’s daughter, Ariel and his new best friend, Willard to create an inspiring musical with friendship, love, and determination. "Footloose" is a lively celebration of freedom and self-expression— a perfect show to get everyone involved!
