Thank you for your ongoing financial support of St. Barnabas and our ministry partners. Your faithful support makes it possible to live out our mission in the community and the world. | | | | Call Committee Chosen!
The following members have agreed to participate as members of the Call Committee for St. Barnabas’ next Lead Pastor: Jessica Gaedke, Kirstin Bernau, Don Davidson, Cindy Dogan, Chuck Dake, and Eric Boyd. The call committee was chosen to best represent differing demographics of our congregation and will be installed during worship on Sunday, October 5th at both of our services. The council is very appreciative of their commitment and excited for this committee to continue in the transition process. | | | | Guest Preacher this Sunday   Our Gift of Love offering this month is going to Good News Jail & Prison Ministry, and will directly support the work of Pastor Jeff Freeman, who is a chaplain at the Hennepin County Correction Center. Jeff will preach at both services and will offer a forum in the Alcove between services | | Exciting Technology Updates
St Barnabas has recently upgraded several computers for our staff, including the finance, operations and technology teams. The decision to move forward now with these new PC’s was driven off the need to upgrade to Windows 11 and the fact our previously refurbished PC’s were not capable of running the new software. The new machines will allow us to maintain the security and connectivity needed for our staff as well as streaming our Sunday morning services for years to come. We have also upgraded our internet capabilities with new router switches and integrated the 11 Wi-Fi hubs throughout St Barnabas to create a single connected Wi-Fi experience for the building. You can utilize the St Barnabas Guest Wi-Fi on your personal devices by signing on with the following password – Barnabas2. We are excited to lay the groundwork for our ongoing technology maintenance and will keep you abreast of upcoming needs and changes. We have utilized a portion of memorial money from Bob and Louis Troemel for these updates.
Blessings, Karl Smith, Director of Operations  | | Funding Appeal
The Stewardship team is forming for this year’s funding appeal. We will need to set up a theme and schedule leading up to Stewardship Sunday on November 23rd. We will also update our stewardship materials and recruit speakers for temple talks.
We’ll have an interest meeting between services on Sunday, September 21st in the Ministry Center Alcove. If you can’t make it to the meeting or have questions, please contact Brett Turnquist at brett@turnquist.com. | | Change to Sunday Bulletin
Starting this Sunday, September 14th, there will now be an insert in the bulletin that will have the weekly news, calendar, birthdays and Gift of Love information.
Making this change to the bulletin will allow for less crowding and it should be easier to follow. | | Like Coffee?
Everyone enjoys having a treat and a cup of coffee with their friends on Sunday mornings, but we can’t offer this ministry of fellowship without people to host the coffee hour. While we could use more volunteers in lots of ministry areas, we’re especially in need of extra Coffee Hosts. If you’ve never volunteered in this area before, we will train you in everything you need to know. Sign up at the Welcome Center.  | | | | Hospital Visitation
If you or someone you know will be hospitalized and would like a visit from a pastor, please reach out directly to the church office or one of the pastors. HIPAA confidentiality laws prohibit hospitals from sharing patient information. | | | | The Prayer Chain
If you would like to participate in praying for our members and friends, please talk with Pastor Tom. If you would like to request prayer from our Prayer Chain, contact Brenda in the church office or talk with Pastor Tom or our Pastoral Assistant Bryce. Please indicate if you would like your prayer request to be shared with the congregation, or if it is confidential. For those needing our prayers, any member of the congregation can request a prayer shawl for themselves, friends or family. Please contact Bonnie Welshons or Brenda in the church office to obtain a prayer shawl and the pamphlet that goes with it. | | | | Other News & Church Activities | | | | Quilts on Display
Quilts are available for you to take home through this Sunday, September 14th for at least a $50 donation to help us purchase quilting supplies. The remaining quilts will be taken to the Lutheran World Relief warehouse for shipment around the world, Lutheran Social Service in MN for refugees, and North Memorial Hospital for long term patients, hospice, and children. | | | | Volunteer Opportunity Garden & Beautification Day

Projects that make our spaces safer, more welcoming, and more beautiful for residents and the community. Contact Gen Lopez at glopez@missionsinc.org. Groups of volunteers from workplaces, civic groups, or faith communities are welcome!   Thank you for helping us keep our campus thriving! | | | | Take Action by October 1st! Defend Federal Funding for Housing   Congress is now negotiating the 2026 housing budget and stakes are high. With a deadline of October 1st to create a unified budget, the House proposal includes major cuts to housing and homelessness programs. It also puts many other programs and services that make supportive housing effective, like counseling and job support, squarely in jeopardy. Meanwhile, the Emergency Housing Voucher program is on the verge of running dry. Without new funding, 60,000 households could lose assistance by the end of 2026, and with it, the stability they’ve worked so hard to rebuild. Let your voice be heard. Read Beacon's latest blog post and take action.  | | | | Cross+Generation Event ~ August 20th | | | | Seniors and Friends ~ September 9th | | | | Light the Way Home - Beacon's Annual Fundraising Event  September 9th
