A Word from the Pastor
Today we’re going to celebrate. I hope that’s ok with you. I know 2020 hasn’t given us a lot to celebrate, so we’re going to do just that today.

It’s fitting for God’s people to celebrate because God celebrates. Just look at all the feasts and festivals in the Old Testament; there were always festivities going on near the Temple. In the New Testament, Jesus told us there was celebration in heaven, so let’s join in the fun.  Here are the things we want to rejoice in today.

-  This week we purchased masks and water bottles for 1,245 MISD elementary-aged students.  Fueled by your generosity, we were able to provide these much-needed items for local families.  This gives families and teachers one less thing to worry about.  Great job, church!

- This past Sunday, we hosted our first Field Service.  This was our first in-person worship service since March.  We had 70 in attendance.  And a “thank you” to everyone for wearing masks and social distancing.  Being faithful in these practices will help us create more opportunities like this.

- Our online attendance remains steady.  This tells me that you’re staying connected with the church.  We can also see that we’re reaching new people each week.  This is part of our vision to reach new people for Christ!

- On Sunday evening, we also hosted people in a drive-thru version of Backpack Blessings.  We were able to pray over teachers, administrators, and students of all ages.  We asked God to cover everyone as this school year begins.  We want to keep praying this together as a church.  This is a tough time for a lot of people.  May the Lord continue to provide grace and strength for all.

Now, that’s a lot to celebrate!  It wouldn’t be possible apart from the Spirit’s movement through God’s people.  Thank you for being the kind of church that joins together in difficult times.  You are truly a witness to the hope found only in Jesus Christ.
Blessings, Pastor Brady

A Time of Prayer
We recognize that these are tough times. In such seasons, it's important to seek support. Galatians 6:2 says, "Carry each other's burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ." The church staff wants to help shoulder some of your burdens by offering a time to pray with you. On Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00pm, a couple of the staff will be outside on the George Hopper side of the church parking lot. Just pull up in your car and we can have prayer together. We will begin Wednesday, August 26th.
3rd Grade Bible Drive Thru
On Sunday, August 23rd from 11am-12pm,
We will have Bibles to gift to children in 3rd-5th grades who have not yet received a Bible from FUMC. This is a drive thru event in the parking lot where our staff will gift students with a Bible and special prayer over them at their car. Registration is highly encouraged (click below to register).

Thank You
To My Church Family,
I got to go to Albuquerque to see my brother, Charles Webb. He is doing as well as he can with advanced Parkinson’s. However, we got to sit on the patio with face mask and Plexiglas between us to visit. Even with all of the restrictions, it was great to get to see him. I asked him if he got any cards from my friends and he said, “I have never had so many cards in my life!” Thanks to all of you who sent cards. It was very uplifting to a man who doesn’t have many of those moments these days. May God bless you!
