A Word from the Pastor
After the 10:00am worship service this past Sunday, some of the staff stayed to hand out bibles to our 3rd grade students. It’s been a longstanding tradition to give them bibles. We believe this is a season in which they can really begin to dive into scripture on their own and we want them to have the resources to do it.

It was such a blessing to put the Word of God in each of their hands and pray over them. One of the students in particular was so excited to get her bible. She was grinning from ear to ear when we handed it to her. She held it like it was a precious treasure. Her eyes grew wide with wonder as she opened its pages. She told us she couldn’t wait to start reading it. I wish everyone in our church had such passion to know God through His Word.

God’s Word is a treasure for us. It is in the pages of scripture that the divine mystery of God’s love for us is revealed. It is in searching its words that our knowledge of God deepens and that we grow to maturity. “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
The Word also comes to life for us today as the Holy Spirit speaks through it. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, bone and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitude of the heart.”

So, just how much should we desire to know the Lord through His Word? I believe Jesus answers that in the desert. After going 40 days without food, Jesus answers the temptations of the enemy by saying, “For it is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

My prayer for you today is that you would see the scriptures through the eyes of our 3rd graders. That you would realize the untold treasures that exist within its pages and have the courage to explore them.

A Time of Prayer
We recognize that these are tough times. In such seasons, it's important to seek support. Galatians 6:2 says, "Carry each other's burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ." The church staff wants to help shoulder some of your burdens by offering a time to pray with you. On Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00 PM, a couple of the staff will be outside on the George Hopper side of the church parking lot. Just pull up in your car and we can have prayer together.
Save the Date!
We will be celebrating the completion of our "Growing Our Legacy" Capital Campaign,
Sunday, September 13.
