A Word from the Pastor

What a difference a week makes.  This time last week, we were under 10 degrees.  Today, I was outside for an hour, and I’m pretty sure I got sunburned.

While we’re happy to wave goodbye to last week’s weather, we know not everyone has fully recovered.  Warming temps has revealed the damage that had taken place over the week.  While many families have insurance to take care of their needs, we know some do not.  We want to help.  We have some resources to help.  While we cannot do everything, we can do something.

So here is what we’re asking of you.  If you’re connected to the church, let us know if there is something we can help with.  The early church set the tone of taking care of the needs of their new family in Christ, and we want to do the same.  We also want to know if you personally know someone whom we might be able to serve.  In either case, please reach out to me via email at  We will be looking at each case to see what we are able to do.  We may not be able to help everyone in Midlothian, but we can help some.

Also, if you are interested in serving by offering your time, skill set, or financial resources, then please reach out to me through my email as well.

Pastor Brady Johnston
Lent is a season of examination.  In it, we take a long and hard look at the condition of our hearts.  I once had someone ask me why this was necessary.  My reply was that God says He is always searching our hearts and I want to know what He’s seeing.

This Lent we are leaning hard into scripture study and prayer as a means of examination.  God’s Word often acts like a mirror, allowing us to see in ourselves what we might not otherwise.  Prayer is a time when we listen to Spirit’s prompting.  This is why we are encouraging you to participate in the WayPoint daily devotional throughout Lent.  The WayPoints are designed to help you prayerfully engage God’s Word so that we might respond in obedience.  Click on either link to find the WayPoints. Discipleship Bands are made up of three to five people who commit to read together, pray together and meet together with the expectation that they will share in God’s love together. We use the term “band” as a noun to refer to a group, but it’s more easily understood as a verb.  In other words, it’s a group that bands together, meeting regularly to seek Christ together. If you’re interested in more information or want to join a band, please click on and out this Google form below.

To Our Church Family,

I just wanted to thank you and everyone for the prayers and the cards. I have enjoyed sending cards and being part of the sisters in prayer, but being a recipient is really a blessing. It gives a visual of how many people are lifting us up in prayer. This time last year when our daughter Chelsea was so sick we felt a great comfort. Just two months ago when my sweet Daddy went to his heavenly home to be with my Mother, who passed three years ago, that same comfort. And now, no doubt, because of all the prayers I can report that during this broken hip/ femur ordeal I have not felt scared or anxious. I know my body will heal. I will get better. I am getting better.

I ask that you continue to pray for our daughter Chelsea. Scans show that she is stable, which at the beginning her oncologist said “we like stable”. She will continue treatments every 3 weeks. We still remain grateful and thankful. She is a strong one!

We’ve had our share of “stuff”. Hopefully, we will be able to take a break for awhile. But if not I TRUST that God will continue to see us through.... He is good like that. We survived the week of frigid weather!
Thank you again. So thankful God has placed all of you in our life’s journey.

God’s Grace, Peace and Love to all,
Guylyn and Jack Peel
The Prayer/Card Ministry Sisters sent cards to Derek who is the nephew of Candy Conrad. He has stage 4 Hoskins Lymphoma and is undergoing treatments. His wife Heather sent this thank you to Candy to pass along to us:

The cards from your church have been such a blessing! Derek read some over the weekend and started tearing up....he told me he wants to read one everyday and also wants to keep them. He said maybe sometime he can write a few of them back. Sorry for the long text but wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the many prayers.
The Prayer/Card Ministry Sisters sent cards to Elaine Woolsey who is the mother of Pam Rogers. Elaine had hip surgery. This is her note of thanks:

I was certainly surprised to receive the nice get well cards from Pam’s former church. I appreciate the thoughtfulness and prayers. Thank you for helping me through all the aches and pains. I am recovering very well.

Thank you again,
