A Word from the Pastor
Today I want to celebrate one of the great ministries of our church in God’s Garden Preschool (GGP). The vision for God’s Garden began long ago with a two-day-a-week Mother’s Day Out type of program. It has since developed into a five-day-a-week preschool, and the only licensed preschool in Midlothian.

God’s Garden currently serves 120 children from infants to pre-kindergarten. Some of  the families served are members of the church, while many others are from the community. For these families, GGP is their first point of connection to our church’s ministry, and one way we are reaching new people for Christ.

The mission of God’s Garden Preschool fits within the overall mission of the church of “making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” It focuses on laying a firm foundation for our children to understand that they were created by and are loved by God.

I can attest to the power of this ministry as both of my girls went through the preschool. The Christ-centered teaching they received led to many more conversations at home. It was a safe place for them to grow in their relationships with their classmates and the Lord. Annie and I are indebted to God’s Garden and the staff for their passion in showing the love of Christ to our little ones.

We have been fortunate to have many wonderful people contribute to making this ministry a success, but I want to single out the current preschool director, Michelle Coffin. Michelle has been with God’s Garden for 6 years. She is one of the most dedicated people with whom I have ever served. She takes so much pride in the preschool and pours her heart and soul into it. Along with her team, she made a way for the preschool to open safely this year in spite of COVID. She has managed every challenge with the kind of grace that should make every church member proud. She is such a blessing to the children and families of GGP, her staff, and our church.

Lenten Reading
This Lent we are leaning hard into scripture study and prayer as a means of examination. God’s Word often acts like a mirror, allowing us to see in ourselves what we might not otherwise. Prayer is a time when we listen to Spirit’s prompting. This is why we are encouraging you to participate in the WayPoint daily devotional throughout Lent. The WayPoints are designed to help you prayerfully engage God’s Word so that we might respond in obedience. Click on Waypoint or FUMC Facebook to find the WayPoints.
Discipleship Bands are made up of three to five people who commit to read together, pray together and meet together with the expectation that they will share in God’s love together. We use the term “band” as a noun to refer to a group, but it’s more easily understood as a verb.  In other words, it’s a group that bands together, meeting regularly to seek Christ together. If you’re interested in more information or want to join a band, please contact the church office.
