A Word from the Executive Pastor
Our church has been very careful in how we have reintroduced our worship services, communion, programs and ministries as we moved through the COVID-19 season. Within a week of your pastors and church members landing stateside from Israel in March 2020, we moved worship completely online. Five months later, we began worshiping outside, while masked and scattered between the two worship spaces.
Before we knew it, we were figuring out the best way to hold worship indoors and still keep people safe and protected from COVID-19 exposure. From the beginning, we have required masks and a social distance of six feet as we worshiped in person.
All along, we’ve been following the CDC recommendations and standards set by the schools. Given the recent changes in those standards, we made a decision last week to set aside the mask requirements for in-person worship starting this Sunday, May 30th. While masks are welcomed in worship, they are no longer required.
While many are relieved to put this precaution behind us, please know that there are some who may feel more comfortable wearing a mask. Others may feel less comfortable attending now that the requirement has been lifted. Even though the rules have changed, our call to love our neighbor is still in place, regardless of their mask- wearing choice.
Let us continue to be the church as we learn how to work our way through this season of change together, one step at a time.
