A Word from the Pastor
You heard the announcement on Sunday. Now you can see it. A zero balance on the Family Life Center. Praise Jesus!!! What a great day it is for our church.  It was mentioned in our services that we will be celebrating this monumental accomplishment on Sunday, October 31st.  On that day, we will be having one combined worship service in the Family Life Center at 10:00 AM.  We will worship as a church together, giving thanks to God for His faithful provision.  Our district superintendent will be present with us that day.  After worship, we will have a meal together and then burn the FLC note.  I anticipate singing, shouting, and even some dancing.  I hope you’ll make every effort to be there as it’s going to be a day to remember.

WHAT NOW?
On Sunday, I was stopped by several people with questions regarding the church’s debt.  With the sale of the two parsonages, the church was able to pay off two notes (a small note on the Meadowcrest parsonage and the Family Life Center note).  However, we still owe money on two additional notes (the small home on Ninth St. and the 2.7 acres attached to it).  These two purchases were made in December 2018.  It is the intent of church leadership to continue to pay these notes down.  If you have been giving to reduce the church’s debt, please continue to do so.  Every penny you give to debt reduction will be applied to the principal of these remaining loans.  It’s important to be aware that while paying off the FLC debt means we have cleared the biggest hurdle of our debt, the race isn’t over.  We want to be debt free, so anything extra you give will help us move in that direction.

Also, after paying off the FLC note, we still have additional funds left over from the parsonage sale. It was agreed upon at the church conference that we would have the Finance, Trustees, and Administrative Council committees propose how to best use these funds for the mission and ministry of the church. Those meetings are set for October. We will be sure to communicate with the church about the decisions regarding these funds, so stay tuned.

The Pumpkins Arrive TOMORROW!
The pumpkins will be here tomorrow, Wednesday, September 29th! We need all hands on deck to help set out the pumpkins and decorate The Patch. We will have pizza and drinks at 5:30pm. At 6pm we'll start working. If you can't get here that early, please come when you can. The more we have, the faster (and easier) the work!

Please note that KidsClub and Youth Ministries will be meeting in the Pumpkin Patch to help set up. Bring your friends and don't forget, students can get community service hours!! We can't wait to see Everyone in The Patch!
Sign Up for a 2 Hour Shift
Afternoon, Evening & Weekend Shifts Available
The Pumpkin Patch is a wonderful fundraiser for Youth Missions, but it is also a great opportunity for community outreach for the entire church! Please consider signing up for a two hour shift to work The Patch. You can take a look at the Pumpkin Patch sign ups by clicking the button below and see where you could give 2 hours of your time. Minors need to be accompanied by an adult. We will sign off on your community service hours worked. And remember, you don't have to sign up alone. Sign up with a friend, your Discipleship Band, Emmaus Group or Sunday School Class! Thank you for your support. We’ll see you in the patch!
This Saturday!!!
Woohoo! Lord's Acre Week has arrived!! We are crazy busy getting everything together for one of the biggest events of the year (at least at FUMC). It may look different from years past, but we can assure you that Lord's Acre will be a great celebration! Please check out the schedule changes above so that you don't miss your favorite activities.
Donations can be dropped off in the FLC this Thursday and Friday between 8:30 AM and 8 PM. Or you can make arrangements with Laurie Lundberg at 972-877-8838 (please leave a message). Note that we are not able to accept donations of large furniture for Lord's Acre.

We will still take donations for both the Live and Silent Auctions, the Country Store and Baked Goods, and the Children's Auction. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Cheryl Weadon

Help is needed setting up, breaking down, during and especially in the kitchen. Sign up sheets located on the back wall in the FLC. Feel free to come by and help Thursday, Friday and Saturday as you are available.
Please contact Mandy Scott at Mandy or 817-939-1991, if you would like to help in the kitchen. We will need help Wednesday through Saturday! Turkeys will need to be cooked and deboned and dressing will have to be made. Each day will begin at 8 AM. Please note that because you will be handling food, all volunteers need to wear a mask.
Pies Are Needed for Dessert
A lot of pies are needed for dessert for the Turkey Dinner. Typically, most volunteers make two pies but if you can't do that, please consider making at least one. Please bring your pies to the FLC by 11 AM on Saturday morning, so they can be sliced and ready for the dinner. We do not have refrigerated space available prior to Saturday. Whatever we have left over will be sold and proceeds will be added to Lord's Acre proceeds.
Calling ALL 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders!
Want to go to camp for a weekend? Come join us November 5th and 6th at Glen Lake Camp!

Bible Camp is an opportunity for children, 3rd-5th grades, to come into the camp setting and gain skills and knowledge necessary for navigating the Bible. This year, campers will learn about being a follower of God from the obedience of the Israelites that faced Jericho, the story of the tax collector Zacchaeus and repentance, and from the strength and confidence of Paul in a shipwreck. These building blocks of obedience, repentance, strength, and confidence will help our campers follow God and grow deeper through these Bible stories. Cost is $45 for the weekend (includes food). Visit Glen Lake Bible Camp for more information. Please contact Keelee Allen at Keelee when you register, as she will need to coordinate adults for camp.
Join us for Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, October 24th from 3-5 PM! We will have games, candy, bounce houses, pumpkins and more!

Trunk-or-Treat is one of the biggest community events we host each year, bringing hundreds, if not thousands of people onto our campus. It is a great opportunity to invite our neighbors with a welcoming spirit! But to make Trunk-or-Treat truly successful, we need decorated trunks. So start thinking about how you can decorate your trunk in a family fun way. Sign up by clicking the button below.
Though each “Trunk” provides treats, we need extras to have on hand, in case some run out. Please consider donating candy, but don’t wait! If we don’t have enough reserve, we will go buy more the week before. All candy must be wrapped. Please do not donate candy with nuts or chocolate. Donations can be placed in the bin outside of Miss Keelee’s office.
Saturday, October 9th
This year, our Lord's Acre Garage Sale is combining with our Annual Garage Sale the week after Lord's Acre, to allow for more space and volunteers. So if you've been decluttering and saving those treasures for the garage sale, it's almost time! If not, now is a great time to declutter and know that your donations will help support ministries of the church.

Drop off starts Thursday, October 7. Large furniture items will be accepted, But we are not able to pick them up. Large items will need to be dropped off at the church.

Glen has been been showered with cards the last two days and we're loving opening each one and reading the precious messages. What a thoughtful and delightful surprise! The nursing home even called to check and see if it was Glen's birthday in fear that they had it down wrong in their files. You gals are to thoughtful. Thank you.
