A Champion for Crowley Park: The Story of Nancy Crowe

Nestled in Richardson, Texas, the neighborhood of Crowley Park has long been cherished for its quiet streets, towering trees, and close-knit community spirit. But behind the serene beauty of this area lies a driving force dedicated to keeping it that way: Nancy Crowe.

Driven by a deep love for her neighborhood, Nancy has spent years working to ensure that Crowley Park remains a peaceful, green sanctuary for everyone who calls it home. Whenever an issue arises that threatens to adversely impact the community—whether it’s local development, environmental concerns, or neighborhood peace—residents know they can count on Nancy to step up and be their voice.

Her dedication to service takes many forms. Beyond serving as Chair of the Civic & Environmental Committee for the Crowley Park Neighborhood Association (CPNA), and the Shade the Trail Program, Nancy recently took on the role of Neighborhood Drone Liaison. In this vital position, she acts as the liaison between residents, commercial operators (such as Amazon Prime Air), and city officials. When constant overhead buzzing or privacy concerns begin to disrupt daily life, Nancy ensures the community’s voice is heard at City Council and regulatory bodies to protect the neighborhood’s quality of life.

Nancy’s passion for service extends far beyond her immediate neighborhood streets. Over the years, she has lent her leadership to the broader City of Richardson, serving as Chair of the Parks & Recreation Commission and representing her district on the Environmental Advisory Commission. From championing urban forestry initiatives like Save Our Trees and Shade the Trail to advising city officials on community green spaces, her efforts have left a lasting mark on the city’s landscape.

For her tireless civic, community, and neighborhood involvement, Nancy has earned the deep respect and gratitude of many. It is a true honor to recognize Nancy Crowe for her unwavering advocacy and endless heart—and to proudly name her our 2026 Volunteer of the Year!

Crowley Park Neighbors Recognized by City for their Volunteer Work

I recently attended a powerful recognition event at the Eisemann Center—an evening that reminded me of just how much impact dedicated volunteers have on our city. If you’re not familiar with the Richardson Real Heroes organization, their mission says it best:

“Our program celebrates well‑deserving, hard‑working, unpaid, and remarkable individuals who have not been recognized before. It highlights these individuals through a beautifully produced video story of their volunteer life, which is unveiled during a unique recognition award ceremony. The award recipients’ story inspires others to volunteer. This all‑encompassing circle of effort and appreciation enriches our entire city. That’s why we do it.”

Two outstanding nominees, JD Luttmer and John Moran, were honored that night and received the prestigious Annie Award for exemplary service to our community.

Their stories—captured in a beautifully produced video and featured in a WFAA Channel 4 segment—reflect the very heart of volunteerism in Richardson. You can view the segment here:

In addition, Rockie Marvel, Vice President of the Crowley Park Neighborhood Association, was also in the spotlight for providing outstanding service within her community. Her dedication and leadership continue to strengthen the fabric of Crowley Park and inspire others to get involved.

If you see any of these three individuals serving in the community, give them a pat on the back for a job well done. I’m sure they will appreciate the encouragement

Thank You to our Neighborhood Flag Volunteers

Happy Labor Day Weekend, Neighbors!

Our neighborhood flags are being deployed this weekend!  In remembrance of 9/11, they’ll remain flying a little longer this time—through the weekend of September 19th.

We also wanted to take a moment to recognize some of the amazing neighbors who make our Flag Program possible!

These wonderful volunteers give their time five times a year to help deploy and retrieve flags throughout our neighborhood. We were able to gather a few of them recently for this photo, but there are many more who generously pitch in throughout the year.

To ALL of our flag volunteers—THANK YOU! Your time, energy and willingness to serve are a wonderful example of what makes our neighborhood such a special place to call home.

If you see one of our volunteers out this weekend, give them a wave  or a big THANK YOU! And, if you'd like to help, we are always looking for more hands.

Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful Labor Day Weekend!
