PROPOSED ARCHITECTURAL GUIDELINE CHANGES

The Kings Contrivance Village Board is proposing updates to the Architectural Guidelines. The goal of the Guidelines is to keep our community an attractive and desirable place to live. The Guidelines do not have the legal force of the covenants. They are an interpretation of the covenants and guide the Resident Architectural Committee in its recommendations to the Architectural Committee. The last time the Guidelines were updated was 2023.

The proposed changes include edits to existing Guidelines. You can review the complete proposed document here. On the document, the proposed changes are highlighted in yellow. If you would like to review a hard copy, one is available at the front desk of Amherst House.

The Village Board wants to know what residents think of the proposed changes. Written comments can be emailed to Kings@VillageofKC.org or submitted to the village office. Comments must be received by Monday, April 6, 2026, and the proposed changes will be reviewed by the Village Board at their meeting on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

NEWS FROM COLUMBIA ASSOCIATION

CA has been informed that Howard County will be starting a stream bank stabilization project on the Little Patuxent River underneath and adjacent to the bridge on Guilford Rd, near the intersection of Murray Hill Rd. They will be accessing the area through CA property. Please see the map below. There will be daytime closures of the right turn lane on Murray Hill Rd as you approach the intersection. The sidewalk will remain open, but pedestrians should be cautious during the day. They will also be stabilizing a section of the channel coming from the parking lots on the north side of Guilford Rd which will necessitate flagging traffic as trucks enter and exit the roadway. This project is tentatively scheduled to begin during the week of 2/2/2026 and is expected to be completed in 6 weeks. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Ron Hogle, Columbia Association Project Manager at 410-715-3161.

You can view all of CA's current projects at the:

Columbia Association Project and Access Dashboard

The Project and Access Dashboard (http://columbiaassociation.org/caprojects) was created to increase transparency surrounding projects taking place in the Columbia community. It's a public resource which can be found at all times on CA's website under GIS and Mapping Resources.

NOW HIRING LIFEGUARDS!

It may be cold outside, but CA is planning for another amazing summer at CA's 23 outdoor pools. It all starts with hiring the team that makes it all possible - lifeguards, coaches, instructors and pool managers.

  • All CA team members get a free CA Fit & Play membership - including pools, gyms, tennis, ice skating, mini-golf and so much more.
  • With flexible hours, a fun work environment, and competitive pay, it's the perfect summer job.

Questions? Visit CA's website for more information including dates for informational sessions.

YEP! Building a Stronger Future for All

Through the impactful Youth Engagement Programming (YEP!) initiative launched in 2023, Howard County provides critical funding to operate two of Howard County’s Boys & Girls Clubs: the Laurel Woods Elementary School and Harpers Choice Middle School clubs.

In the past year alone, more than 250 of our young people have been served through these two club locations, gaining access to mentorship, enrichment activities, and a welcoming environment where young people are supported, encouraged, and heard.

Through a partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore, YEP is investing in young people today to build a stronger future for all. To learn more about the Boys and Girls Clubs in Howard County, visit: https://www.bgcmetrobaltimore.org/clubs.
