SPARK Lesson: "Jesus Heals"
This Sunday, Jenni Payne will read Mark 1:29-39 from the SPARK Story Bible. Be sure to have yours with you and follow along with her! We will hear about all the ways Jesus healed the people he met during his lifetime, and how it wasn’t always from illnesses. How does Jesus heal today if he isn’t physically here with us? How can we heal each other?
Nursery Nuggets: Alleluia Coloring Project
Hi Nursery Buddies and Parents!

I hope you enjoyed coloring your friendasaurus from last week! One of the most important friendships of all is our friendship with Jesus Christ. He also teaches us how to be a good friend. Let’s take a look at a couple of Bible verses.

  • Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times...” Do you think that Jesus loves us all the time? I know in the times I feel alone or scared, I can remember Jesus loves me, and I feel all is well.

  • Proverbs 27:9 tells us, “...and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.” God gives great advice, doesn’t He? The advice Jesus gives is all about who God is to us. He sounds like an awesome friend!

Jesus shared many examples with us in how to be a good friend, and we are going to do a project that we can share with all our friends at Crown of Glory! It is a fun coloring project for February 14 (Transfiguration Sunday), the day we “bury” our Alleluias for the season of Lent!

Here is an Alleluia picture for you to color. When you are finished coloring your Alleluia, have an adult take a picture of it or scan it and email it to Pastor Laura. Please have it returned by February 10, so we can get them ready to show on Psalm Sunday! I look forward to seeing them!

Music Notes
WWJD? About twenty years ago this was a movement. The high school and junior high school kids were wearing this on bracelets, necklaces, sweatshirts, and T-shirts. One of the kids at church got it tattooed on his arm and one of the pastors preached about it. For those of us who follow in the way of Jesus, it is a rather important question. What would Jesus do? How would Jesus handle this or that situation? What would Jesus not do? The answer isn’t always obvious.

Our Sending Hymn on Sunday To Be Your Presence seems to answer that question well.

To be your presence is our mission here,
To show Compassion’s face and listening ear,
To be your heart of mercy, ever near, Alleluia!

I particularly like verse 2, because Jesus went beyond presence; he acted.

To be your presence is our mission bold,
To feed the poor, and shelter homeless cold,
To be your hands of justice, right uphold, Alleluia!

Is it significant that this hymn was copyrighted about the same time as this movement took hold?

Restoring God's Earth: Increasing Energy Efficiency
This month, the Creation Care Team shines a light on increasing energy efficiency. LED lights use 90% less energy than incandescent bulbs and could save up to 7.8 gigatons of carbon dioxide in households alone if everyone switched. Smart thermostats can save energy savings up to 20%. There are many other ways you can save energy in your home: heat pumps, better insulation, and solar panels are also options to increase energy efficiency. Check out our February page for weekly ideas and resources on how to make your home more energy efficient.
