The Justice and Inclusion Team is seeking additional members.
A new ministry has formed at Crown of Glory, the Justice and Inclusion Team.  This ministry initially began in response to the tension and unrest that occurred following the death of George Floyd. As a faithful step towards becoming a more inclusive congregation, the ten-member team will be engaging in training led by Diversity and Inclusion Trainer, Jesse Ross.

We are currently seeking 2-3 additional team members to join the pastors and other leaders. There is no cost involved to join the team or to participate in the training. We are asking members to make a commitment to attend hourly meetings every other Wednesday evening and complete the expected 3 hours of training, which is spread out over a few sessions.

If you or someone you know is considering joining this ministry, or if you have any further questions, please contact Pastor Reggie Klindworth . For more information about Diversity and Inclusion Trainer Jesse Ross, please see  www.mrjesseross.com.
Mask For Music Ministry Fundraiser
We are selling homemade cloth masks to raise funds to purchase outdoor sound equipment to help improve our sound quality during worship services.

Need a new mask during this pandemic time? Try one of ours, carefully made by our Faith Knotters! Each mask has an elastic band so there are no strings to tie. There are sizes for adults and children with some of your favorite colors and patterns. Purchase one for everyone in your family to help support a good cause. Please click here to fill out the order form.

Masks will be available for pick up on Sunday, August 2 or Sunday, August 16 during outdoor worship.  The cost of each mask is $5.00. For more information about this fundraiser please contact Pastor Reggie . Thank you for your support.

Growing in Faith Together
It is fun to share stories! Whether in the telling or the listening, stories have value which they communicate through the experience. In Matthew 13:31-33 & 44-52, Jesus tells five more parables, one after another! In each we get a glimpse of what the kingdom of heaven is like – present in everyday actions and people! Each parable shows something about God and the world as it really is for us as citizens in the Beloved Community.

It seems the kingdom of heaven is in the mix of everything, and humans cannot sort it out, no matter how hard we try. Its like trying to pick out the yeast from the flour, Jesus says that sorting is angels’ work. And we know when God shows up as your neighbor in your time of need, that one pearl is worth everything. Maybe the old and new treasures are our stories about what happens in daily life; in the way God shows up in what is hard and hilarious all mixed together. Maybe the kingdom of heaven is experienced and conveyed through our stories, like parables, filled with joy and surprise experienced in activities of daily life, and as we share our experience with others.

What if in our prayer and practice this week we share stories of joy and surprise that occur in your day, or that you find in the news. The kingdom of heaven is in our midst, dear friends! May we have eyes to see it, ears to listen, and voices to proclaim God is here!
Calling all parents of 4th and 5th graders!
It is time to register for Connect! Please RSVP to Gretchen  by July 30 if you need a Connect Bible to join the conversation! Bibles will be available on Rally Sunday, September 13.
It is time to register for SPARK! Please contact Gretchen for more information.

The SPARK lesson is from Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52, Parables of the Kingdom! Jesus tells 5 more parables for us to know what the kingdom of heaven is like so we can know it when we see it! These parables point to the kingdom of heaven is present in everyday activities like adding yeast to flour or planting a seed. There is much joy and surprise in finding the kingdom here in our midst, we’d give everything we own to secure it!
Nursery Nuggets
Hi Nursery Buddies and Parents!

Did you know we can see how God is with us? It could be witnessing someone step out of their way to help someone else, how your mom and dad hug you in forgiveness when we make a mistake, or even when we look around outside and take in how God made every little blade of grass for us to play in. There is even a fun game we can create out of seeing God in our day! A scavenger hunt! Here’s what you look for. Here is one more!

Music Notes
Can you play an instrument with a mask on?
I’m sure by now you’ve seen our plan for re-opening and carefully welcoming people back into the building. If not, click here . Note that in Phase Two we’ll explore indoor, in-person worship, with several contingencies including masks. We’ll probably not be singing or speaking corporately, at least in the conventional sense. So, if you play violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, mandolin, banjo, piano, harp, xylophone, etc., any instrument that can be played while you have a mask on, please email me. I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT.

I think our first indoor in-person worship will be an in-person version of what we’ve been doing virtually. In time, we’ll bring in instruments that can be played with a mask, listed above, and/or handbell ensembles of 2-5 players, spaced out (one person to a 6-foot table.) If this is a way you can help lead music, please let me know.

The next step is to bring in wind instruments – clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, euphonium, etc. It seems, except for flute, a very inefficient way to spread the virus, especially if the air must go through a whole lot of tubing like a French horn or euphonium.

When we begin in-person indoor worship, we may do some odd things like playing or singing facing away from the congregation, or behind Plexiglas. I’m encouraged by the research that shows much lower levels of transmission outside due to air currents and wind. We have two powerful fans on the sanctuary ceiling that, at full force, should help disperse aerosols.

Until we get there, you can help by making sure I know about your musical abilities, especially with instruments, and especially “mask-friendly” instruments. Email or call me 952-448-3230, and please let me know what level music you’d be comfortable playing. It is my hope that we all come out of this pandemic with a renewed sense of community, a renewed sense of our common humanity, and a renewed understanding that everyone is created in God’s image. For the gifts you bring to make this happen, thank you!
