Summertime Matching Challenge: Achieved!
Thank you to all who contributed to the Summertime Matching Challenge! We have received over $20,000 in gifts to our Sustaining Fund for the month of July! What an incredible response! We want to thank the original donor family for their generosity, as well as everyone who made a special gift to this challenge. Because the summer months are typically the lowest giving time of the year, we give thanks for this stewardship and care of our congregation.

As we move into the final days of summer, if you have not already, please consider making your gift automated on a weekly or monthly basis. Your gifts to Crown of Glory sustain our ministries and directly impact our general budget and mortgage.

Again, thank you for fulfilling this challenge!
Fare For All: TODAY from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
For the safely of all, Crown of Glory will be hosting a FFA event in the church parking lot with social distancing measures in place. Customers will use the north parking lot entrance, receive a menu and follow the volunteers' directions for purchasing and picking up their items. Then exit through the designated area. Payment is by credit card, debit card or EBT only.

Seeking Volunteers

Please email  Kanitta Rentfrow , FFA volunteer coordinator, if you are able to volunteer today, July 30. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FFA is encouraging those at risk to refrain from volunteering at this time. Thank you.

Masks For Music Ministry Fundraiser
We are selling homemade cloth masks to raise funds to purchase outdoor sound equipment to help improve our sound quality during worship services.

Need a new mask during this pandemic time? Try one of ours, carefully made by our Faith Knotters! Each mask has an elastic band so there are no strings to tie. There are sizes for adults and children with some of your favorite colors and patterns - see examples below! Purchase one for everyone in your family to help support a good cause. Please click here to fill out the order form.

Masks will be available for pick up on Sunday, August 2 or Sunday, August 16 during outdoor worship.  The cost of each mask is $5.00. For more information about this fundraiser please contact Pastor Reggie . Thank you for your support.
Seeking Gardeners: Plant and Flower Transplant Project
It has come to our attention that the rain run off near the back patio garden needs to be diverted away from the base of the building. After some investigation and carefully planning, we are moving forward with the installation of two French drains in the patio garden.

We are seeking 8 or more gardeners and plant caregivers to join us for a transplant day on Saturday, August 8 starting at 9:00 a.m. If you are available to come and help dig up the existing plants and transplant them to a temporary location, please contact Kathy Tinker to get signed up. Thank you for taking time to serve!
The Justice and Inclusion Team is seeking additional members.
A new ministry has formed at Crown of Glory, the Justice and Inclusion Team.  This ministry initially began in response to the tension and unrest that occurred following the death of George Floyd. As a faithful step towards becoming a more inclusive congregation, the ten-member team will be engaging in training led by Diversity and Inclusion Trainer, Jesse Ross.

We are currently seeking 1-2 additional team members to join the pastors and other leaders. There is no cost involved to join the team or to participate in the training. We are asking members to make a commitment to attend hourly meetings every other Wednesday evening and complete the expected 3 hours of training, which is spread out over a few sessions.

If you or someone you know is considering joining this ministry, or if you have any further questions, please contact Pastor Reggie Klindworth . For more information about Diversity and Inclusion Trainer Jesse Ross, please see  www.mrjesseross.com.

Children's Ministry
Growing in Faith Together
In our gospel this week, Matthew 14:13-21, life imitates the mystery and character of last week’s parables where little becomes much. Jesus instructs the disciples to bring him their so-called “nothing” (v.17) and proceeds to show them what they really have is more than sufficient to feed 5000 men plus women and children. Each of the twelve disciples receive their own personal provision basket full of left overs as food for thought!

This text reminds me not to compare or disparage who I am or what I have as not enough, nor withhold what I can give in the face of even a great need or challenge. What I consider a small and insignificant mustard seed, given for God to bless and use has more potential than I can imagine! This is most certainly true in my experience. Such is the nature of God’s economy where little becomes much and nothing is wasted!

Dear friends, how shall we embrace this grace in our prayer and practice this week? How might we give our gifts and talents to meet the great hungers in our world? It is a lifelong endeavor! I pray that you would see the harvest of the seeds you sow, and be fed with the bread of life.
Do you know a 4 th or 5 th grader?
It is time to register for Connect! Connect is a pre-confirmation class for 4 th and 5 th graders. Each week we explore scripture stories and make connections to our daily life around themes that relate to kid’s experiences. We are planning for online learning and onsite in-person learning when possible.

This year’s lessons focus on the Old Testament and we begin with Genesis! We will also explore ways to incorporate service learning and large group social elements with our on line learning and will gather in person when possible, anticipating this will be a year of hybrid learning.

Connect Bibles will be ordered for children new to this program, so they will have their own text to use for Connect and Confirmation studies. Sign up here . Please email Gretchen Pierskalla for more details.

Seeking Guides for Connect!

Connect meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Guides will help facilitate small group discussion by sharing highs and lows, prayer, reading scripture together and discussing how it connects to your life, and end class with a closing prayer and blessing. Guides will facilitate groups online and onsite when possible.
It is time to register for SPARK! Please contact Gretchen for more information.

The SPARK lesson this week is Feeding the Five Thousand! In Matthew 14:13-21, Jesus reminds us of our dependence on God, and the grace of Jesus blessing what we give! Even if we feel we have “nothing” to give in proportion to the need, Jesus demonstrates it is indeed more than enough to fill 12 baskets of left overs!
Nursery Nuggets
Hi Nursery Buddies and Parents!

I hope you have enjoyed the weather and are doing well. Something to look forward to is Bible verses we can memorize, this way we can carry some important reminders from Jesus with us everywhere we go! If we feel lost or nervous, we’ll have God’s word stored right in our minds and our hearts to help us feel okay and know we are loved. God’s word can also help us to make good decisions, like sharing with others. That shows compassion towards one another so we all can live abundantly in faith. Here’s a verse set to a fun song to help memorize it.

Hope you enjoy it!

Worship is a STILL a Participation Sport
Make a joyful noise to the Lord! Come into God’s presence with a song. (Psalm 100)
Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. (Colossians 3:16)
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. (Acts 2)

When I think about worship, it contrasts with a concert or a football game. Worship is something we all do together. We don’t watch while other people do stuff; our participation isn’t limited to cheering or clapping. We sing, read, talk, think, pray, laugh, cry, etc. together. We actively participate, not passively observe. Scripture is clear: Come, together, make, sing. These are all active words that ask us to participate, no sitting on the sidelines.

This is what makes gathering to worship such a challenge during a pandemic. The virus seems much less easily spread outdoors, so we’ll gather outside on Sunday, August 2. (Come, together, check!) The virus seems much less easily spread when we wear masks and distance ourselves, so we’ll wear masks and distance ourselves. (Come, together, check, with caveats.) The virus seems to be spread when we sing or speak loudly, so we’ll limit our singing and speaking to a few people, worship leaders, safely distanced. (Problem, or opportunity?)

Let’s view this as an opportunity. Gestures and American Sign Language do not spread the virus. Perhaps we can incorporate a few simple gestures to go along with the music, and perhaps we can learn a couple of simple ASL words. We say, “Amen” and “And also with you” several times during the service. What about “peace,” “love,” “God,” “Jesus?”
If you know ASL, even just a few words, please come to worship ready to model that for other people. You’ll be a worship leader in ASL, in the same way a good singer in other times models the right words and notes. Most importantly, you’ll help us all to participate in worship together.
