October Sermon Series: In the Light of Your Promise
This month, we will be diving into the new hymn, In the Light of Your Promise, written by Tom Paulson and Pastor Laura. Each Sunday, Pastor Reggie or Pastor Laura will preach on one verse of the hymn, combining the focus of the poetry with a passage from scripture.

Tune in to discover more about this timely hymn and all of the ways God is alive and moving through word and song.

Click here to read a recently published newspaper article in the Chaska Herald announcing the completion of the hymn. Another article can be found in the most recent issue of the Victoria Gazette.

What a Blessing!
Thank you to all who helped to make our First Annual Blessing of the Animals a success! 38 people attended the service and 17 animals were blessed. It was a wonderful evening of celebrating all God's creatures!
Music Notes
There is an adage that it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. It reminds me of Jesus telling his followers that no one lights a candle then places it under a bushel basket. Let your light shine! It really is simple advise: do the good things you can do in your world. Imagine what would happen if everyone followed that advise.
Here’s what I can do today to light a candle during a pandemic, social unrest, record unemployment, a distinct lack of civility in our politics, etc. I can express my thankfulness to Jodie Barnett, Laura Hauck, Krista Hammann, Miyoko Kawanowe, Sarah Morrow and Pastor Laura Laughlin for beautiful handbell playing on Sunday! I appreciate the skill, energy, and enthusiasm they brought to rehearsals and worship. It was such a joy to lead them in making music to the glory of God again. We still may have a long way to go before worship “gets back to normal,” however, having bells playing for worship safely was a big step in the right direction.
I’m excited to begin rehearsals with another small group of bell ringers – Krista Hammann, Rorie Chinnock, Sarah Morrow, Miyoko Kawanowe, and Melissa Whiting – who will play for worship on Sunday, October 18. They, too, will be lighting candles, doing good things in our world. Thank you, Chancel Chimers! You are wonderful!

SPARK Lesson: "The Wedding Banquet"
This Sunday, during the Children’s Message, we will hear about a king who held a wedding banquet and needed to make some important decisions about who was invited to the party. We will talk about how being part of God’s family is like being invited to a party and how no one is left out. We will also be reminded of how easy it is to get busy and forget about God, but that God is never too busy for us!
Nursery Nuggets
Hi Nursery Buddies and Parents!

It’s animal week!!!

Read: Genesis 1:1-31

Bible Memory: Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” A fun way to help remember things is to sing about it! Make up your own little tune to sing the Bible verse.

Art: You can make an awesome animal craft! There are so many ways to do this, from drawing a picture of your own pet to making a sock puppet of an exotic animal from the jungle, like a lion. Here are some ideas on how to make a bunch of different animals using paper plates. If you don’t have paper plates, any paper will work and the shapes can be cut out and colored.

Adventure: It has been so nice outside! Find a comfy spot outside and sit still as best you can. This time of year, all the animals are really busy preparing for winter. If you watch, you should be able to see what they are up to. How many can you count?

This week’s colors: RAINBOW!!! There are way too many colors to count when it comes to our wonderful animal friends. My dog alone has 3 different colors on her and there are some really colorful birds, like the toucan! Maybe you can find a colorful bird around your house in your adventure.

Have Fun,
