New Collaboration between Office of the President and Local Branches

Raising the Issue of School Funding Locally and Nationally

I am excited to announce a new initiative that uses the outreach and connections of national WILPF US to spotlight local issues in the vicinity of WILPF branches. Consequently, this announcement may be of particular interest to branch members; however, I hope WILPFers across the country will recognize this new project of the Office of the President as one which gives them special access to the kinds of information and analysis that almost never makes it into the corporate media.

Through national-branch cooperation in WILPF, we strengthen our movements, and this new collaboration will use the platform of the Office of the President to work with various branches to bring broader attention to their local issues that merit WILPF awareness and action.

This piece from the Boston Branch focuses on the crucial importance for our electorate of full funding for the public schools and the civic education they must provide. Additionally, I encourage you to see this “Fund Schools First” piece here, because it presents the government income proposals and the mathematical calculations that show how this and other vital public funding can be accomplished.

The is a first of its kind collaboration. I hope to hear from the members and leadership of other branches about the local issue topics you would like to have highlighted with the weight of the Office of the President. I also welcome your comments and feedback both on the topics of this first Collaboration of the Office of the President and a Local Branch and on this new approach to supporting national-local WILPF connections.
